Stop Traffic From Bouncing off Your Site with this....

@amandine both your and original code in my case (tested on 2 WP blogs) works just once. meaning if they are on inner page and press back it will bring them to root page, but if they press back again then they will land in Google. Not sure why is that unless it was supposed to stop them just once? I have code before </head> on every page.
Yes this is the way it is intended to work : if visitor visits only one page and goes back, then the script fires. This is not so agressive, but smart enough to minimize bounce rate.

I never tought of using this trick like this, but i often use it on landing pages to fill the browser history ... That's way more agressive but it's a classic backoffer scheme...

So its working for me. Do it affects my adsense account? Please answer

Thanks, great stuff! I would just say one thing, which is two things, Cookie Stuffing :)

I simply redirected my back button to an affiliate offer where they get $10 off coupon from an exit popup If they are trying to leave. Once I removed that my revenue decreased a lot. People just love coupons.

So what would happen if you made the URL the visitor is forced to go to is a product on Amazon with your affiliate ID? Can you get banned for that?

Yes you can, but I redirect mine to a "product-exit page" which just has a bunch of offers on it.

Can you talk a little bit more about that? I'm thinking of implementing it on my Amazon site.

Can't argue with the results, my exit rate on my exit page is 44%, bounce rate at 20%, and 3 extra page views per a visitor.. after just 4 days. Thank you very much sir.

Just want to let you guys know that one of my sites got a manual action for using this script!! I installed it on two sites - both of these sites were in google webmaster tools - and on one of them, few days after installation the site got completely de-indexed and I got message in WMT saying there was a problem with the sites content which meant they had to remove from index.

I have not done anything else on the site recently and because it specifically mentioned problem on the site (rather than backlink profile) I assumed it was this code.

I removed code and resubmitted the site - which had to be manually reviewed, and now they accepted my re-submission and re-indexed the site.

The turn around time for this manual review was 17 days.

I didnt get any issues with the other site to which I added this code (But still I removed it after the above issue). So I dont know if perhaps somebody manually reported me or what, but regardless I am avoiding this code from now onwards.

Not going to use this on my white hat sites but this will sure come in handy with BH projects, gonna test it straight away.

Edit: Did a quick test, works great, going to have fun with this. :D

Got any more handy scripts?
