Most of his backlinks are pointing towards his homepage.

Example:
Best widgets (homepage) *Has all of his backlinks
- best blue widgets (navigation) *no backlinks (excluding PBN links if any)
- best red widgets (navigation) *nobacklinks (excluding PBN links if any)

He's ranking number one for some high traffic terms with no backlinks to those specific articles. His links however are low quality and I think I found some of his PBN links. Should I follow suit and build links (higher quality of course) to my homepage? My homepage isn't an article like my competitors though. It's sectioned into reviews/product reviews/tips/etc.

Will building more links toward my homepage help spread juice to all of my content?

It seems like a no-brainer. You already know that your competitor has sub-par links. Go for it. In my opinion, I would stick with the low hanging fruit. It's important to remember to diversify the links you have to your homepage. It would just be boring if all of them lead to one page.

Ofcourse it will help, however i woudnt copy everything that competition doing, just build strong links to homepage with brand anchor and naked url dont do exact match.. and let google do rest if you have good content you should start moving up for all keywords

Building quality link to your homepage will it increase your Domain and Page Authority, it will pass in other page which it will help subpages to rank.

Should I use LSI anchored links to my homepage or just go for branded URL anchors?

Are you using an identifiable PBN? Just play it safe for a few weeks, and go with anchors. If you can identify the blog network that is being used, just lay low and attack. I don't know what i'm doing, but if you are doing local seo, I can say that it works.

Not doing local SEO, but I'm shooting towards PBN links. Actually looking at blogs that allow guest posts with high tf/cf/da/pa metrics.

He probably has some solid on-site structure. It is possible to rank purey by root's authority alone. You can see big guys do it all day long.

Your safest bet tho is that he';s using hidden PBN like you said.

Clean homepage + PBN only for inner pages. Does wonders.

I would personally mimic what top 3 guys are doing.

Brand, URL variations and misc are your safest bet tho yeah.

.

maybe.
but that starts at some 3 digit RDs of high authority sites.
ya know, the once that charge you 300-500$..

Of course, domain authority matters so spread your links naturally across all your important pages without forgetting your rot domain of course.

True. Seems to be the case here actually.

Don't create all backlinks to your homepage, use a mix backlinks stagey with your home page and internal page both.
