Why am I such a dumb in SEO?

Id also give up after 5 years.

I don't want to be a dick here really, but a bit of reality check is in order here. Some people simply do not have the ability to work in certain fields. I would love to be a footballer, but I am not, because I suck at it. I would love to be a porn actor, but I got a short dick. You would like to be a SEO, but after 5 years of trying it apparently didn't work out so maybe it's time to look somewhere else. As I said, I don't want to be a dick, but let's be real here for a minute.

is your short dick where your harsh language comes from

No, my "harsh language" comes from different kind of "dicks". I guess you would know that by now.

when I restarted that seo stuff in early 2016 I started with everything to test that came to my mind..

however, after all those disclosed and non disclosed stupid and bright Ideas I have done so far, I have to state:

It's the same shit that has been there all over the years..
get your on page right (free guides here!)
get strong links, either via your own PBN and expect $ for domains 100-200+ at least.
or buy posts from s trong sites like 300$ up.
skip niche affiliate crap that eeryone does.
build a brand, get clients.
wash rince repeat.

and make some "SEO projects for fun" and rank them so you know your shit when dealing with clients.

I built about 10 sites (and I work for many clients). First I analyse and define the main keywords (based on market/volume research and competition). Then I optimise the basics (title, meta description, headers and content), then I focus on back links creation: I check what my competitors are doing and the quality of their BL: PA/DA, CF/TF and I try to get the same links. I also build PBN with tiers links (with GSA).
Unfortunately it doesn't work. Where is the problem?

you are 2-3 years behind. thats you problem. in 5 words. suck it , swallow it. but dont lick it.

I'm sat shaking my head at the thought of you working on paying clients sites, after reading your admission you've no idea about seo.

I hope you're outsourcing to an agency for the client stuff ?

trust me, the crap I have seen in the past was either rip-off or sloppy work always done by AGENCIES. no matter of SEO or SEA.
so clients getting ONE freelancer have a 10:1 of getting either better results, NO results but paying less.

you just have to find your niche of being the porn star with the smalles dick in the country, like him:

i feel like a lot has changed in SEO.

I get pages with 0 backlinks rank really hi

nothing changed.
just old sites got a ton of authority and got more over the years.
so you have to:

work harder to get good links (GSA = Spam)
or pay more..

First of all, I know perfectly what you are feeling - I tried to rank a website for about 3 years, but I finally managed to get it done, it is there on the first page; the key - perseverance. This forum is amazing, with a wonderful, friendly and experienced community. Actually, it is here where I found those posts which showed me what I was doing wrong all those years (thanks a lot phpbuilt for your amazing tutorials on OnPage SEO).

I am not a quitter, so I won't tell you to leave SEO. After all, I don't think SEO is that complicated; if I managed to have some decent results, everybody can :)

Maybe you should put your thoughts and knowledge in order, probably there is some mess there. Maybe you are that impatient kind of guy who doesn't have the patience to get things done and abandons them halfway. Maybe you attempted to conquer some tough keywords. Maybe you tried to rank some poor websites.

Try to have an honest look at yourself, because SEO means a lot of testing and knowledge, but it also requires patience, order, an analytical mind, and self-discipline; at least, for me, the last stuff was mandatory to understand what I was doing (good or bad) and to have a full picture.

My advice - revise everything you know and tested and make two groups with -
  • things that didn't work, and try to understand what was wrong, and never ever repeat them
  • and things that worked, even a little, and try to figure out why they did.
On the other hand, considering SEO as just a simple hobby, and starting something new instead could be a good idea too. Why not using what you have learnt in SEO so far somewhere else?

That's right: why am I a dumb in SEO? I am in the SEO business for 4/5 years, I know quite a lot of white hat and black hat technics (PBN, expired domain, GSA, scrape box, etc.). I read tons of books and articles but ... I have had absolutely no positive results on the websites I've worked for. No massive improvements, no big jump...

It is really hopeless. Should I really give up?

i am abeginner started black hat seo a month a go and i began to get a few dollars as i read more methods here and journeys of others i began to have my own thoughts and ideas i just tried a few techniques not every thing as long as you have a brain think how to use the techniques mentioned here .
no one will tell you how to do it exactly in the very details , you have to take advantages of the techniques here for your own good .
to make a 1000 dollar amonth ,you have to do a 1000 mistakes
best of luck

You say you're not getting dramatic improvements. Are you getting small improvements over time? Those improvements are often more sustainable and will be better in the long run

positive result
massive result
big jump

You mean traffic? Do something you are better at.

lol sachsen paule :D i almost forgot about him..
but on a serious note to OP: if after 4-5 years you absolutely have no success, then this might just not be your thing...at all...and i highly doubt you understood what you were reading all these years, or you simply got lured in by all those self proclaimed marketing "gurus" and their crap stories

I bet one PBN post he was just cheap, trying to compete with guys doing strong backliks over years.

The problem is also that I can't invest into big PBN or high quality content as I don't have a lot of money. Let's say I can invest about €50 a month.

You didnt mentioned Quality guest posting, Whitehat organic approach in your 5-year experience. I think you missed these real gold and chasing for PBN, Scrapebox etc short term method. I am sure if you did a good approach in last 5 years then you would have a great website with great traffic. Anyways noting too late, at least you learn something that you know doesn't work so skip it from now.

The problem is that the companies I worked for didn't have the budget for high quality blog posts. They all wanted quick and cheap results.

Even when I create dozens, 100s or 1000s of backlinks thru DIFFERENT ways with gsa, rankerx, fcs, and index them thru again different methods

Well there is your problem right there lmao.

GSA isn't really good for SEO like that. It has it's uses..but ranking a site in google with straight up spam doesn't work anymore.
The name of the game now is QUALITY. Not easy spam.

you got disillusioned because the methods u thought where ok, where infact not.
just time to re think strategy and approach and learn again, u have the basics
the rest isnt hard just a little re adjusting

Well, I've seen small positive results. Eg. I know how to make a site appears in a SERP for high competition keywords, but I can't rank it in the first page, I get stuck in the 3rd or 4th pages.

Well, you can get some cheap results, not so quick, but not extremely slow either.

Some ideas

Keywords research

Content (high-quality blog posts/guest posts):
  • manual research in Google
  • search for magazines and books (off line or pdf's)
  • scrape the content and Auto Rewrite it using The Best Spinner (low cost)
  • manually edit the content using Grammarly (free, but I strongly advise investing in the premium version; it is cheap, yet extremely useful, mainly for non-native English speakers, like me)
  • duplicate check using DupliChecker.com (free)
  • optional - check the readability level using readable.io (free)

Link building:
  • manual searching and scraping with http://www.onlinesales.co.uk/tools/tools/bookmarklet-serps.php (free)
  • scale scraping - ScrapeBox (affordable);
  • MOZ Open Site Explorer (free; it is not the best tool for that, but at least it is free)
  • broken links link building (free links)
  • link baiting (free links)
  • guest blogging (free links)
  • expired Web 2.0 (free links, but you will need ScrapeBox to scale this)
SEO Audits
  • Screaming Frog (free shareware, or paid full version - quite expensive)
  • SEO PowerSuite (free shareware, or paid full version - expensive)
  • Xenu's Link Sleuth (free)

This is far for being something exhaustive, or perfect, but just a collection of ideas on how to get most of the SEO jobs done decently with little or no costs at all.

indeed , thats the way around it , GSA links are pure spam dont use them cause they will find it and de-rank you , just dont give up, a site needs a lot of work in order to gain some decent ranking

if you dont use exact anchors, they dont derrank you for shit. well, you get a quick drop perhaps for a few weeks, but it recovers.
still thats enough for amateurs to mess around with DIZZAVVOWW or buy more healthy-crappy links...

however, that spam crap is purely:
waste of time
waste of ressources.
wont help you BUILD anything of authority.

and if you want to rank "low comp keywords", why dont you use some clean expired web.2.0 ?
