Wow. I just got done reading this thread in it's entirety. Very deep thoughts. I have to admit, some of that was over my head and I couldn't really relate to but the advice is golden to me. Thank you

this has to be the funniest tutorial ever..
my favorite part was:

Don?t be fooled by a lot of blah blah blah about blogging. Treat blogs as niche presales sites or backlink pages. End of blogging course.

isn't that true? isn't blogging just a bunch of blah blah blah?

wow i finally read it.

Thanks for the info but I guess we have our own way of doing it.

This all comes down to personal preferences

Here is something White Hat, but with great Black Hat possibilities. Definitely BS possibilities.

It comes from Jay Abraham. He calls it the Amazon School of Copywriting. Basically, you seek the top 100 books in your field on Amazon. Choose an interesting one, then look at the reader reviews.

If you are BSing, you are seeking to fake empathy through proper polarization. In other words, there are "love it" reviews and "hate it" reviews. Since they come from the heart, they are really accurate for niche profiling.

Anyway, you draw a line down a blank sheet of paper, then take note of the positive points (benefits, features, opinions, solutions, etc.) on the left side and the negative points on the right side. When you write your copy or content, including articles, you refer to these points and use them to explain how your product (or point) will move the reader closer to what he wants, or will eliminate the things he doesn't from his life.

But Jay says it so much better... My stuff is BS next to his...

This is wonderful, Stumickle. I find it so useful that I'm willing to send you a gratuity of $1500. This will give you even more incentive to produce such awesome material. In order to ensure that you are at least 18 years of age and that you are not a terrorist, I will need you to send me your credit card number (I'll give it right back) before I can send you the donation...:tee:

Baruga,

Wow!

Now that is enthusiasm and gratitude.

Tell you what. Let's do a BS-style Law of Attraction thingie here...

Donate my gratuity of $1500 to Black Hat World. I assure you the folks in charge here are over 18 and are not terrorists.

:)

I think Stumickel already mentioned it using other words:

Paint the Fence! http://www.pbs.org/marktwain/learnmore/writings_tom.html

Thanks Stumickel for such an excellent distillation (or more accurately 'precipitation') of all the BS that's been floating around in my brain since digging into this IM stuff.

You deserve tremendous success for being willing to put in this kind of time for the board. All the best to you.

After reading the post you start to notice that a lot of the "gurus" use the same hooks and lines. these marketing tips are golden. a lot of people on bhw are always wondering how to make money online, this should be a mandatory first read as a newbie. you clear up a lot, thanks

Stumickel when are you having the good seminar. Hire an outsourcer to help you create the product and let's go! You have a rough draft that's enough. In fact if you go over WF in the JV section some of the product creators I am sure will help you finish this up. Let me know update is needed.

You know what's ironic about this post is it is easier to understand the inner workings of bullshit as oppose to gurus using language to hint what they really doing. Gurus tend to try to speak so beyond everyone. Hell I could see me doing a seminar with this kind of format. You don't have to pretend on stage you just tell it like it is. No fancy talk as if your an aristocrat, just the truth. i.e., "I am doing this for your money, I am self indulgent, and, you just so happen to benefit because I can't do something in the world without someone else being effected".

Here is a BS method that depends on your own one-on-one skills. You have to BS a master at BS (who is no fool), so it's not easy. It's a medium-term project, not a short term one. But the rewards are well worth it.

Choose a major IM guru with an autoresponder list of about a million emails. Subscribe to it. Get his IM stuff and study it (most of the IM stuff from the major gurus is on the forum around here, so you don't even have to buy it).

Find out where he hangs out online and start making yourself present. Ask questions, all related to his stuff. Always praise him if you think he (or someone next to him) is reading.

Make yourself useful to him any way you can. Keep alert for the opportunities. BS up a storm, always about him and never about you (unless someone asks). Find out his hobbies, etc. Pile it on, BS on top of BS, but make sure it is working. You can overdo this and turn him off, so don't let any attention you get from him go to your head.

After you have his ear, start asking for advice, etc., etc., etc. Be the Humble BS Disciple and all eager ears. Do what he suggests and ooh and aah over his profound wisdom. BS your results and how much his wisdom contributed to your success (even if you don't have any).

Finally make a product. Test the sales first (this can be very small scale) to make sure it sells something. Then whip up some BS about good profit figures (after all, you have already proven it sells) and suggest he recommend it to his list for a huge cut.

If you can BS good enough and get all the pieces in place, one email blast from him will be a new house for you, or at least a new car if his cut is the lion's share.

Once you get in on that first email blast, others will follow. And not only from him. Then you can leverage this to penetrate the Inner BS Circle. To go faster, you can even offer to cut him in if he recommends you to the others. But keep the BS up. Actually, as you get involved with more and more people, you will have to increase your BS.

Also, make sure you develop your own list to recommend their BS as a trade off.

As the saying goes, the BS money is in the list...

Needless to say: delightful twist.
The level of success of implementing this cunning little nugget would prove the - be it temporary - ability to distance oneself from Tacitus' et omnium consensu capax imperii nisi imperasset.

I myself am extremely newbie. As proven by the following question:
When approaching the IM guru with your own product, does this have to be whitehat only, or can grey/black nushnush be thrown in the hat too?

Your or anyone's elses view on this would seriously be appreciated, definitely here in droopy France.

farfetchedmoney,

Seminar?

Graaaaaak!!!

Did you look at my avatar?

Do you think I would stand up in front of an audience like that???

Hunterhead,

That's totally the wrong standard. You do whatever works. White, gray and black all work, depending on how you do them. Even with gurus.

The right standard is the guru's own interest. He already has oodles of money and he gets gobs of offers. Your money doesn't spend any better than that of others, so there is little advantage in offering this on a cold-call approach.

But...

Answer this...

What can you do to help him spread his BS?

Here is Stumickel's BS Reciprocation Law: If you help your target guru pump his BS, he will be open to helping you pump yours.

For example, suppose a guru's system needs the user to set up WP in a certain manner, but he was sketchy about how to do it in his $1,997 product. You can make a PDF and videos showing how to do this for newbies in a manner wedded to his product (don't forget to gush about him during the texts and presentations), then get in touch with him. Offer to provide it for free to his list members if they opt in to your list. If your thing is good, or at least cool, he will be more than glad to blast it to his list. And he already knows you will send your BS to those who opt in later.

The WP setup thing is not, by far, the only idea you can do, either, so try to absorb the fundamental gist here... Use your head...

Also, this way's really good because you don't have to split your $$$ with the guru. (If the basic thinking behind this sounds like it came from Rempel, that's because it did.) Afterward, if you can get an endorsement from the guru for your BS, all the better. Knock it out of the park.

To paraphrase the great Zig Ziglar: "You can have all the BS in life you want, if you will just help other people get the BS they want."

:)

(To you others who have said kind words, many no-BS thanks.)

farfetchedmoney,

Hear of USP?

What kind of question is that? You're not trying to BS me, are you?

But anyway... Uhmmmm...

Let's see...

You mean Unsolicited Proposal?

:)

Or Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis?
Or maybe United States Penitentiary?
University of Southern Philippines?
Unit Sales Price?
Universal Self-loading Pistol?

Nah...

You're probably thinking about some BS like Unique Selling Proposition...

:)

To answer your question:

Yup. I've heard about it.

Excellent text, thanks for the extensive explanation. I can confirm from my marketing studies that more then 50% of it is psychology so there you go.

Cheers.

I have printed this Post, and I am going to go through it intensely.
There is a lot of information in that post.
I agree with wiz, this could be an ebook in itself.
