here.

Code:
http://google.com/trends/hottrends?q=true+blood+season+2+episode+10+preview&date=2009-8-17&sa=X
when i checked it was at its peak, and this guys squidoo was ranking #1 in google due to the work he put into it (hardly 1hr)

Code:
http://www.squidoo.com/truebloodseason2
^^ this was ranking #1 for the keyword. and this lens was linking these 2 web 2.0 pages
1
Code:
http://truebloodseason2.tumblr.com/
2
Code:
http://watchtruebloodseason2.blog.com/

#1 From above Linked to:

1
Code:
 http://truebloodseason2.wordpress.com/
2
Code:
 http://trueblood2.livejournal.com/

#1 From above Linked to:

1
Code:
 http://truebloodseason2.info/
2
Code:
 http://watchtruebloodseason2.weebly.com/

#1 From above is his Landing Page Where he promotes:
Code:
 http://www.graboid.com/
For each install he gets 0.70$
As its his landing page he don't have any out-bound links for link-wheel other then his aff link for graboid.

So i will carry on with #2 which is:
Code:
 http://watchtruebloodseason2.weebly.com/

And this further links to

1
Code:
 http://www.truebloodseason2.wordpress.com/
2
Code:

..... Did you learn something? I bet the guy made 30-50$ From this while it was Hot...and will make around 20$ in the rest of the month.

All he did was invest 0.99$ in the .info domain.

I showed this because many people read and ignore so this is a LIVE/Practical Example of this Method Working.

Learn Something, Take Action! And Earn Money!

Thanks for sharing the awesome method Goes the the Guy who created the following thread:
Code:
 http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/clickbank/92333-google-hot-trends-clickbank.html

If you like what i did i wouldn't mind some rep/thanks ;)

Yes I liked what you did as to show real life examples.

yep, i am gonna try this method out for myself as i have some time on my hand.
so did this research for myself but i thought it would be useful for bhw members so i posted it here.

I love the thread titles now days. $50-$100/day rough estimate based on Google trends data and some other guy's website.

By the way, the easiest way to do this is to create a blog and start making posts about future episodes that are not even out yet. Start targeting keywords such as S03E03, Watch xxxxxx season xxxxxxxx episode xxxxxxxxx etc. By the time the episode actually comes out you will already have an established, mature post covering all the related phrases. A few guys are scooping up all the traffic on Google at the moment. They are in top 30k Alexa so you can probably imagine how much they make.

great post !

though i am a little puzzle about the linkwheel :D

is there is a diagram to show the linkwheel ?

I decided to look at this and found it to be a bit more complicated than a linkwheel. You could almost call it a linknet using 10 sites only. This reminds me of Michael Campbell's mininet structure.

There are actually 11 sites if your count the final money site (Graboid). But for the effects of link analysis, Graboid does not need to be considered since it is linked to from only one site--the ".info" domain site. At least I did not find any other site linking to the money page. (This is why I believe this structure is closer to a mininet than a linkwheel.)

Here are some things I noticed about this structure.

Only 2 sites have a bunch of stuff on them: the Squidoo Lens and the ".info" domain site. The Squidoo Lens can be considered as the start of it all and the ".info" site as the end point.

The ".info" site does not link back to any of the previous sites, but only links forward to the money site (with a gazillion links).

All sites have identical content (title and one paragraph, in addition to the normal title). There are two outgoing links in this repeated content: one in the title and one at the end of the paragraph. Both links use the same keyword phrase (Watch True Blood Season 2 Online) as anchor text. This repeated content is even on the Squidoo Lens and the ".info" site, both of which include a lot more stuff. The real work content-wise was done on those two sites. All the other sites were practically copy/paste with change of links--and an image, some tags and some Adsense (and Amazon) thrown in at times at random.

I didn't go over all this with a fine tooth comb, but from what I did see, there was no attempt at all to vary the repeated content.

LINK DIRECTION FORMAT

There were only 4 paths from the Squidoo Lens to the ".info" page:

Path 1
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Wordpress --> ".info" page

Path 2
Squidoo Lens -->Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Quizilla --> ".info" page
(This path got skewed because the author did a typo in his final link from Quizilla and wrote the link as "http://truebloodseason2.inco/" instead of "info" at the end.)

Path 2-a:
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Quizilla --> Hub Pages --> ".info" page

Path 3
Squidoo Lens --> Blog --> Hub Pages --> ".info" page

Path 4
Squidoo Lens --> ".info" page (a gazillion links, but not from the repeated content)

In the middle of this, there were some wheels (or loops).

Wheel 1
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Wordpress --> Weebly --> Blog --> Hub Pages --> Squidoo Lens
(Notice that this is very similar to Path 1.)

Wheel 2
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Quizilla --> Hub Pages --> Squidoo Lens
(Notice that this is very similar to the damaged Path 2.)

Wheel 3
Squidoo Lens --> Blog --> Hub Pages --> Squidoo Lens
(Notice that this is very similar to Path 3.)

Wheel 4
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Jimbo --> Squidoo Lens
(Notice that there is no similarity to a path.)

Wheel 5 (Inner wheel)
Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Jimbo --> Tumblr
(Notice that there is no similarity to a path.)

ANOTHER WAY TO DO THE FORMAT

If we mount this a little differently, the parallels become really clear:

Path 1 & Wheel 1:
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Wordpress --> ".info" page
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Wordpress --> Weebly --> Blog --> Hub Pages --> Squidoo Lens

Paths 2/2-a & Wheel 2:
Squidoo Lens -->Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Quizilla --> ".info" page (damaged)
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Quizilla --> Hub Pages --> ".info" page
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Quizilla --> Hub Pages --> Squidoo Lens

Path 3 & Wheel 3:
Squidoo Lens --> Blog --> Hub Pages --> ".info" page
Squidoo Lens --> Blog --> Hub Pages --> Squidoo Lens

Direct Path:
Squidoo Lens --> ".info" page (a gazillion links, but not from the repeated content)

Extra wheel from Squidoo Lens with no path:
Squidoo Lens --> Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Jimbo --> Squidoo Lens

Inner wheel (no path):
Tumblr --> Livejournal --> Jimbo --> Tumblr

As a final note, all links were single and one-way. The only exception to single links was the Squidoo Lens, which had a lot of links to the ".info" site. But those links came from the extra content on the Lens, not the repeated content. There was only one two-way link I was able to detect: between Weebly and Wordpress. Blog had only one link leaving it.

From what I can tell, the purpose of this is to rank the Squidoo Lens and the ".info" site in the SERPS and little else. The Squidoo Lens obviously drives the reader to the ".info" site due to the large amount of links going there. The ".info" site serves only to hard sell the reader and go to the money site (another gazillion links).

I might make this into an image for study. Thanks to garciabogard for the find. I learned something doing this...

EDIT LATER: btw - Now this person has added a popover from a CPA company on the ".info" page, so that page is hard to study unless you want to do his CPA thing.

Here's the flow chart I just did.

The green sites have lots of content. The white ones have only the same title and single paragraph content.
The thick double arrow line is lots of links.
The normal arrow line is a single link from the same anchor text.
The dotted arrow line is the botched link.

Its also worth mentioning the bunch of RSS submissions he did or outsourced for the .info to boost the main money/affiliate lander site

thanks. your chart explain everything for us

but there seem like a small mistake, weebly doesn't point to wordpress, it point to http://truebloodseason2.blog.com/

by the way guys, i am spending way too much time on a link wheel and by that time the trend goes away . How much time you take to make the link wheel ?>

Spend an hour at most on the linkwheel, since it's only about 10 properties. If you want to really get some up-front conversions, you might need to add more/less content. It depends, really.

I kind of read this thread in dismay because it was prett ymuch what I was doing. :) I realized it after I was basically failing at Google Trends by making just one blogspot blog and pinging it.

I noticed that the top blogs being displayed under the detailed Google Trends information all had one thing in common: There were all at elast a week old.

Now to try and figure out a method of trying to easily snag "quick" methods, like the recent rumor of Eddie Murphy's death.

Awesome idea, something like speculating on googletrends! I am going to make a run at this concept, will let you know how it goes.

GoTop and Joslo,

Thanks for the corrections.

If I wanted to be a real stickler for detail, I would change the flow chart, but the concept is clear and I spent too much time on that thing already.

In fact, I learned a lot just doing it, but now I know what I learned and I believe anyone who sees it learns the concept, also.

I do suggest that those who are interested visit each link in garciabogard's post, but click on the links, too, and follow this study with the flow chart in hand (making allowances for the errors, of course).

Those who do this will be well rewarded with a good visual notion of what this person did and how he did it. Then you can easily try something similar or vary it as you wish. (I suggest varying it, especially spinning the content, for the reasons given below.)

Just out of curiosity, I decided to look at a Google search for the term "Watch True Blood Season 2 Online" (in quotes). There were only 923 pages in the SERPS. The Squidoo Lens was in 3rd place. I saw the HubPages site there on the first page, too.

It will be interesting to see if this mininet (linkwheel) keeps this Squidoo Lens ranking. Or even if it is working at all.

But for fun, I looked up the Squidoo Lens in Google with the "link" operator and in the Yahoo Site Explorer to see how many backlinks are indexed. Only one (from another Squiddoo Lens) was in indexed in Google. Yahoo registered 20. I copied them below.

Notice that the backlinks to the Squidoo Lens from the Hub Pages and Wordpress blog in the mininet (linkwheel) are not indexed in Google or Yahoo.

Using the "site" operator on the mininet (linkwheel) links in the first post in this thread, I saw that over half the sites are not even indexed in Google yet. Obviously from the Yahoo list, the main link juice at this stage came from commenting on other people's blogs and things like that.

I wonder if this thing was worth doing...

Great info. It shows how much content you need to get started. I think that was one of my biggest questions when doing a blog using a google trend.

The guy who is running that true blood site is a member of BHW :D He is very good at tv streaming sites

awesome garcia. ur explanation has given us (me in particular) of what a linkwheel means.

appreciate ur efforts man.

no prob, goodluck with your linkwheels.
