Adsense problem after WP 4.8.1 update yesterday

So after the update all my ads on the home page (only) have disappeared. I tried literally everything, but reverting to previous version - nothing worked.

So what's happening:

Just after the automatic WP update all the ads on the home page (only) have disappeared, and only on 1 website. Can it be a page level ban? No it can't.

I purged the W3 cache + cloudflare cache, repaired and optimized manually the database and restarted the server. The ads have appeared again. This morning they have disappeared once again. So I purged the w3 total cache and after the automatic refresh of the page they have appeared again. After few minutes they disappear again.

So I have manually reinstalled Wordpress thr FTP... still it didn't help.

I have uninstalled completely the caching plugin - didn't help again.

Strange thing is that sometimes 1 of the ads appear and the others doesn't.

I haven't changed anything on the site, layouts, plugins, server settings, nothing... it was working 4+ months without issues until that WP update.

I have the backup from 2 days ago but I rather keep the latest version of WP.

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

No I didn't me the ad code, I meant how did you put your ads in, ie via a plugin or added directly to a php file. Mine was updated yesterday and all are fine

I have just noticed one more thing.

I have a script that shows a banner once it detects that someone is blocking the ads: "Disable adblock bla bl..."

Just a banner which appears at the place of the 1st blocked ad, not a pop up or plugin.

So the site doesn't show any ads even with adblock disabled. BUT When I enable the adblock and refresh the page the anti adblock banner appears and after that, when I disable the adblock and refresh the page again all the ads appear again. After 1-2-3... page refresh they disappear again.

It's unusual for updates to affect your child theme, child themes are designed to stop this, that's what they a for. I never build sites without them, so I never have problems.

My bet will be that there is a plugin that is causing the issue. It is common that when you update wordpress sometimes, some plugins begin throwing errors. To find the culprit, disable each plugin one by one and test again the site to see if it works.

However, I am reading a lot of forums for this Betheme issue. Already wrote to their support to check it out. One thing that I have noticed is that the container that was displaying the responsive ads before now is showing 0x0px... This way AdSense can't display the ads.

When I am logged in WP this container doesn't show as 0x0 px but have some width and height.

The whole issue is really fucked up.

Maybe I can try add a CSS for these containers.

Dont know what else to do.

So after my last post, the problem was fixed.

Don't know how.

What I remember that I did was enabling 3-page rules in CloudFlare

1 to bypass the cache of wp-admin

1 to bypass the cache of wp-json

and last to cache everything else (including JS).

After that, I purged the cache

However, there was no problem with the JS caching as Google was serving them from their servers.

And today the problem appeared again. Tried the things before - didn't work

The ads appear everywhere else but on the home page.

I have noticed 1 thing: when I add something after the url the ads appear

For example:

mydomain.com/?ajsdhaghsdahgdshasdh

It opens again the home page but this time shows the ads.

I am so tired of this problem...

Forgot to add something

It shows 1 ad, and only 1 variations of it (Coca-cola) and only on a desktop from multiple geo locations. Doesn't matter how many refreshes and CloudFlare purges and w3total cache purges I make. It shows only this ad to everyone and only on the desktop version. And the ad is responsive and this same ad was working great over and over on both mobile and desktop.

I still haven't solved the problem. Yesterday the ads appeared again for few hours and then disappeared and started showing only the local ad, like I mentioned in the previous post.

This and the issue with /?asdasdas is very strange

Rae you using Plugin to show the adsense ads? If yes than it might be a issue after the WordPress update.

I have same problem. After updating to wp 4.8.1. ads on one of my website is not showing at all. And in google reports there that site is showing zero for page views.

Guys, I wasn't using any plugins for the ads.

The problem is solved and it was because of CloudFlare.

I had to install mod_cloudflare.

After I did this, the problem was fixed.

Easier solution is to drop the cloudflare.

However, I was using few page rules which make my site cache EVERYTHING and with this my site speed was 97 mobile and desktop on google page speed and got 90+ on pingdom and gtmetrix.

Making the site so fast and not only on paper but browsing it was feeling times faster. So I had to read a lot about it and at the end the solution was mod_cloudflare. I also installed reilgun.

The problem was because Cloudflare reports the IP address of the visitor in an HTTP header it appends: CF-Connecting-IP, so there is some information on the original visitor. However in some instances where you have other programs that depend on the incoming IP address of the original visitor, there will be issues. Like mine issue - the ads weren't serving on the real visitors IPs. What exactly got wrong there I can't tell you. All I can tell you is that mod_cloudflare fixed the issue and Reilgun made it even faster.

What am I going to do, I am not using cloudfare. For IE when I put ads from ADNOW its showing it, but from ADSENSE and MGID its not showing up.
