I have an online clothing ecommerce store through shopify. Was wondering the best type of SEO for my website? The keyword research is a bit hard since its very competitive.

What the best way to go - Social bookmarking? Backlinks? PBN? etc...

Start on-page (metas, description, keyword). Some people don't give a sh*t with unique content but I do. Off-page, you can do the usual stuff.

If you have very competitive keywords you should just bite the bullet and buy ads, Google Product Listings is a good option.

Real guest posting is the way you can be safe with upcoming google updates and your site will rank slowly in search engines. I suggest dont go with blackhat method of link building like PBN or automated link building software if you love your site and business.

One of my clients is a major Ecommerce Site. A good hack is to find out what the #1 ranking site is using for titles and meta descriptions and replicate that on your site. Usually adding something like "Buy XYZ Online" is a good idea.

If you are a brand then you should do on-page and then move on to BRANDING. You want people to search for your brand name not just the niche keywords. Social media marketing is the best way forward as well as general marketing to other fashion websites, blogs, Youtube channels etc for links. Start an affiliate program if you have to to encourage bloggers to build links naturally for you on their websites. Once you start marketing your brand then you'll be surprised how many people will start reaching out to you for free "sample" clothing in exchange for reviews.

Note that this can also work if you have a resller store that sells multiple brands. Just work on branding your online store. Social media is a lot of work but it's the "free" way of marketing your products. Be prepared to put in the work because it really is a lot of work unless you have the cash to do ads.

A PBN is a private blog network. PBN websites are websites that you've created for the main purpose of linking to other sites to help them rank.

Look up PBN/Private Blog Network in the BlackHatWorld search (and also read the sticked threads) and you'll find a lot of information on PBNs.

Link building is highly beneficial and crucial for any online fashion website no matter whether you are using Magento, WordPress or Shopify.

I know the following two type of back links are best in my opinion,

- Natural ‘editorial’ links from other companies, brands and people that genuinely want to share your website and products.

To begin with your should go for Long Tail Keywords (or low competitive keywords). So, your objective should be to index your website in Google. Once you see some indexing, you can jump to medium/high competitve keywords.

Follow Diversify Links Strategy:

Unique web2.0 descriptions
Unique blogs with word count 800-1200 and submissions. Publish 10-20 blogs/month
Edu Links
Tier 2 submissions
Profile Links
Social Media - High DA submissions
High DA Blogs Submissions and so on.
