Does CPC matter during keyword research

Hey guys,

after getting some advice from some guys on here I decided to cut my losses and start a new site on a different and hopefully more profitable niche. I am in the keyword research phase of my beginnings and I was just wondering if CPC actually matters if buying ads on google isn't in the gfame plan ? would like to get some insight as to how much monthly searches should we aim for in regards to creating a simple amazon affiliate site with the hopes of passive income ?

CPC doesn't matter if you are planning to use Amazon links to earn from the site, I published this guide on keyword research a few month back that may help you out .

Get your onpage correct, add great content and some great off page and you'll not need to spend on traffic.

Look for decent search numbers, but check competition to see how easy / difficult the keywords will be to rank.

It does and it doesn't. Depends on what you are trying to achieve and how.

1. If you are calculating CPC on Organic Keyword based on the amount of money you have spend on your team’s salaries, seat cost etc and dividing it by the number of visits as a result of that organic keyword. Then it does.
2. If you are looking at the average/estimated CPC of an organic keyword in order to find out what is the value of the traffic you are generating. Then it does.
3. If you are looking at CPC for paid keywords as a benchmark for the cost that you can incur on organic activities. It does.

For most other things, Nah.

So for a beginner trying to make a money site with Adsense and amz as methods of monitization the answer is no?
