Stuck on 2nd page despite having far better links

so now we really have to make nice pages ;)

try to add some frequently asked questions on your page.. i think google likes question related topics
i think it shows that you are not just after a paycheck but genuinely willing to help searchers

yeah. I like the new algo putting spam and trash on page 2.

Yes, tell this to one of my competitor that actually is ranking number 5 with a single page website of 374 words (including stop words), 5.35% of keyword density and 10 affiliate links

isnt that what they call the google dance, maybe on a slow jam

Black sheeps websites are those who actually get far more backlinks than everyone else.
I have never heard of this before. So if you have links more than your competitors, it could harm your website? Irrespective of the quality of the links?
Well.

i think the quality of the site should be more important than the quality of links, this is just one factor.

I learned this here bro: http://diggitymarketing.com/stuck-on-page-2-are-you-the-black-sheep/

Try with topical relevance:
- Add more content to page you're trying to rank, like 200 or 300 words but don't include keywords or optimize it
- Add 3 or 4 topically related articles and link to your main page you're trying to rank and then build links to these supporting articles.

Sounds like a solid plan. Thanks.

It's strange how similar our situations are - my site is even the same age as yours. How long ago did you build the links? Many people are experiencing that links take a lot longer to kick in than usual.

I started building links one month after the website was completed (slow). Built more links later. Didn't build any links for a month.

I bet it socail engagement ?

What there socail stats against yours?

You saw the social in the images.

If it's your site that is 7 months old you are gonna probably have to wait longer. Don't get impatient and try to get your site to the first page by throwing more links at it, it could do more harm than good. Build more content, super long content is the way to go, 2,000 + word articles. More words the better.

I know, but I'm getting frustrated. I guess I'll make a new website and experiment there.

i not understand why most people always think that someone is hiding PBN links and blocking ahrefs, majestic.. if those guys are smart to do it they woudnt be having spam in first place on their sites such as comments, social bookmarks and other trash quality links. Ofc its possible that someone spammed them after they ranked, and once established site its hard to do negative SEO on them but you cant be sure to tell this and what exactly is going on..
just build more links but something strong mate.. and you should move up

When I am building a site up, I throw a little "spam" at it. If I am going to build 5 PBNs for a keyword, I'll get a VA to do 50 blog comments, a couple directories, and order a bundle of web directories to my pages as well, besides the web2s and PBN links. A little spam throws people off the scent sometimes, plus in many niches, looks perfectly valid.

I might be able to help you. I have a new method I know will work but I haven't really tested it much yet. I'll do it for you for free this time. Message me your site and keywords.

Google is pretty stupid in the last few months. Spam and shit ranks while quality doesn't. The funny thing is when I try to spam and make shit I don't rank :(

Holy shit. This is fucking spot on. I have the same fucking problem most of the times.

This is not little spam. This is pure spam. No contextual links, and those that are contextual have images of fucking cars and we're FAR from that niche. Other links are shitty as they can get - social bookmarks on sites that noone knows about, no context, just link and anchor, forum profile that's spamming the forum... If someone asked me how not to build links, I would give them those websites.

Not willing to do that, but thanks for the offer. I'll wait and make a new website to test some shit out!

Buying backlinks sometimes can hurt your rankings. Google knows if you are trying to do blackhat.

Sure.

so what's the point ?

To rank and bank. Or whatever

UPDATE:

Well, someone from Google must've seen this, my website just got on the #10 so that's the first page. I guess I'll just have to wait for 2 more months............. Anyway, the plan is - continue building links, slow of course and make a new website, put lots of spam to it and see what happens. Thanks, guys!

You can try this one out man:

  • Add 3 or 4 topically related articles and link to your main page you're trying to rank and then build links to these supporting articles.
  • Add more content to page you're trying to rank, like 200 or 300 words but don't include keywords or optimize it

    Hope it helps!!! :D

If you follow my posts or threads (or journey thread) then you would notice face similar problem.

Im on page 1 on good kw already but can't outrank "authority sites" that didnt even bother targeting the kw properly.

Google just put them there to make sure nobody will outrank authority sites with spam. Even if my/your site would be much more appropriate (as we targeted the exact KW people searcher for). They prefer safe-but-useless than fits-better-but-risky.

Theres a saying "Cant win them? Join them"

Translation:
Only chance to overcome it, it is to become authority site yourself.

Might be, but their website is really poorly built and has thin content as well. I doubt that they blocked the crawlers, but it might be.
I can give you some free credits to crawl and analyze their backlinks using Linkquidator. We crawl backlinks directly (beside using ahfres and majestic), and we are not so known, so as a rule, no one restricts or hide links from our crawler. Maybe that will help you. If you are interested, please sign in, and PM. I will add credentials.

They hide links not from Google, they hide their linkbuilding strategies, links donors, and referral domains from competitors.
