Newbie guides to keyword research?

I'm completely new to SEO and I need to do keyword research. I'm wondering if folks could point me to the best guides (whether on YT or a site) on how to do keyword research.

Best advice u will ever get.. google keyword planner but disable broad keywords. it is enabled by default and i find it skews the way you percieve niche keywords.

Also u can rank for easy af keywords but just check difficulty on kwfinder.com and make sure competitiors have a low DA but also don't have heavy social signals. if they do, use a social media panel and buy followers on twitter then buy a few hundred retweets to get a quick index. i find that works well.

Yeah but u get the same effect as fiverr gigs posting hundreds of links from doing one from a real account with rts. even if the accs have no followers, some will get indexed. blackhat af but why else we here lol

These mentions, of course, have to be links, right?

Yeah but a retweet to a tweet of a link is better and use an smmpanel to get like 1k for 10 cents. fiverr gigs are multiple posts but without the rts they are detectable spam cause of duplicate content.

I would suggest first find keywords for your site yourself by going through its content and gussing what are most appropriate keywords. Then you can use online tools what will show you the competition for that particular keyword. It will increase your critical thinking ability which will benefit you in long run.

First of all, you need to know what are the most important keywords for your site. Keyword research is easy, just need practice and more practice

I read Hekke's guide and I perused the big 9 part one, but it seems to me both these guys are writing about the kind of operation that is way above my means. They are talking about budgets and Hekke talks about having a writer working for him who writes 2-3 articles a day.

I'm one guy doing marketing in a startup of 3 other people, I ain't got those kind of resources And we are just starting our site so we got no content or backlinks, we're starting from 0, so I doubt I can compete much with anyone.

Someone suggested I use kwfinder to find longtails and try to rank for those. Is that what I should be doing?

Kwfinder is a good resource for competitive analysis as a means of verification. google keyword planner will give you the longtails. use anonymox browser extension for more than 2 searches a day.

Kwfinder is giving me the SEO difficulty for these words I've found, but I don't know what a 50 means vs what a 20 means. One of the words is a 33/100 SEO difficulty, some of the pages on the first page have a 7/100.

So what does that mean for me? What would I need to do to get a blog post of mine to rank in that environment?

100 is the highest difficulty. the DA and TF are factors for the top rankings that will give you easy insight into where your site could rank competitively. anything below 30 is achievable if the titles and descriptions of the competitiors are wack and unrelated to the keyword being searched. otherwise you will rely more on DA and TF to compete.

You're saying if the competitors are below 30 I can beat them just on good on site optimization like title, meta description and headings and without backlinks?

Anything under 30 is possible, but it goes without saying if you can find under 20, then it's even easier.
HOWEVER these tools are not 100% reliable, you need to look yourself at the sites in the top 10 spots.

When you say possible, you mean without any backlinks?

They are not reliable on ANY of the metrics they give or some particular ones? When you say look myself at the sites, I'm not sure what that entails, look how (I'm a complete newb)? With different tools or?

You'd be an seo superstar if you were able to get top spot without backlinking.

When I say reliable, I found a keyword 2 days back, 3 and 4 in the list were DA1, PA1, no backlinks showing according to KWFinder.
Number 5 in the list was DA 42, PA33 with backlinks. So what does that tell you ?

I look using different tools, yes.
This is a sample from Ahrefs where it says you need 3 backlinks to rank in top 10, obviously they mean 3 good quality links, not some crap off Fiverr.
