Referral Link Amazon.com

Hi!
This is probably a dumb question (but hey, that's how you learn, right?), but is it normal that after you click through your affiliate link to any product on Amazon and then, inside Amazon, if you click on another product, another referral link to appear (such as ref=123, while yours is ref=345)?

Are you clicking your own link, it's Amazon reading it as you ie your account.
If someone else does it then it will be your referral link

I use Tor to see how it would behave if I was a real customer and after the initial click through the amazon button (which displays correctly the tag), if I click on any other product without leaving Amazon, I can see a different ref in the URL. I don't know if this is normal or not.

That's stumped me, I just did what you did on mine and had no problem. I use tunnelbear

So, no matter which product you click after you've arrived on Amazon, you get to see your tag and not ref=whatever (for example, you click on an iphone through your website and, after you arrived on Amazon, you click on a different product directly on Amazon.com)? I'm not having any problems with mine. Try using tunnelbear. It maybe tor. You can try tunnelbear for free. Like I said mine works fine

Tried it with tunnelbear, but I did not see a difference. Maybe it is normal behaviour and I am being a bit paranoid because I know for sure that a plugin I used to create a table with products and Amazon links has hijacked most of the links (inside the table) and I want to see if the issue is contained or if this went site-wide. That's why I'm asking if it is normal to see ref=something (not my tag) while roaming Amazon.

That could be your problem, the plugin. Is a free one from WordPress? If it is then they insert their aff link every so often. Try easyazon instead

The free version of easyazon inserts their affiliate ID link every so many clicks, I'm using prourls and the Amazon link localiser and that's free and they don't insert their own links.

Yes, but the table plugin (from Supsystic, if anyone wants to know) has the means of changing the links (since it is some sort of automatic generation going on inside the plugin), but the other Amazon links on the website are manually inserted inside the text and should not be affected by anything (?). I'm really sorry for bugging you like this, but I'm really trying to understand how these bloody things work.

I'll try to make myself more clear: so, I click on an amazon link on my website and go to a specific product on Amazon.com; everything is fine at this moment (the referral link works properly and I can see it in the URL); now, I continue roaming Amazon without returning to the website and I click any other related product - this is where it gets weird, as the URL changes and I can't see my referral anymore. Hope this is more clear.

That's how they earn from you, say 1 in 10 is their id, if someone goes and spends $10,000 they get the commission

An average of 90 dollars a day from this particular website (I wonder how much money I lost during these last months).

Yes, I know, that's why I gave up and made my own version of that plugin (although I still have to test all the links to see if they haven't hijacked anything else from the website).

Yes, I know, I was just wondering why the URL is not showing my referral after the second click on an Amazon product (from inside Amazon), but I guess that is normal.

A big UPDATE would be that the Supsystic table is not the culprit of the hijacking, but it was the Disqus plugin. Bloody unbelievable.
Has any of you that has this plugin noticed anything strange with your dynamically generated Amazon links?

I don't know if anyone follows this thread, but, as a little update, after I removed the Disqus plugin, I immediately saw an increase of up to 50% in traffic towards Amazon which doubled my commission. So, as an aftermath, Disqus was stealing up to 50% of the money I should have earned through hard work.
From my experience, you should always check which plugins you use and regularly watch where your links are going, as you may have negative surprises and could earn more than you are right now.
