How to Get Links On High Authority sites without paying for them?

Hi all,

I recently got a client who is quite adamant to not pay for any back links (even if manually made), he is especially against paying for been listed on high authority sites like Forbes, Huffignton e.t.c according to him he wants to earn the links from the site...I wouldn't have bothered with him but he's a friend so I want to give it try, especially since I am interested in the product he is selling.

Is there a way to get linked on such sites without paying for it? he does not even want PBNS .
Do I still help or drop it and tell him to do as he likes with another SEO consultant.

You have to find a way to make his product interesting for some journalist use it. When you have that, craft an email and reach out to journalists, or buy a PR about it. The important thing here is the story.

Lol, I did davids355, he's in what I would call the moral code conduct, according to him he did not need to do such with his other businesses (2013-2015) and I told him what worked then wouldn't really work today sometimes...sigh, if he were a stranger I'd just nod my head and call it a day on that project.

I would just find it very annoying someone wanting my help, but out of stubbornness wanting it done their own way. Personally I would not have time for that.

Well I would probably make some YouTube videos around his product and link back to his site. Or giveaway some of his product to YouTubers or Influencers. I am sure he can see value in that since tons of companies provide products for review. Lots of ways such as infographics or some other creative marketing stunt could earn him some free backlinks. Think outside the box or move on.

Just tell him straight then - it doesn't work like that now. You can't help this guy I don't think.

He will only have it done his way, even though you are the professional.

If he don't want to pay then still possible, ask him out for a dinner make sure you order something really expensive and he gonna pay the bill. After that order a Huffington post gig somewhere that cost $10 with a link to his site, this type of post has noindex tag.

Its not impossible but one way or another he have to pay something.. if not links that would be amazing content which can cost in same price range, and then to promote this content with paid ads, or outreach to journalists, bloggers and hope they will share it.. but for commercial site is very hard. what is the point of getting forbes link u think it will skyrocket him to #1 for his product? it probably will send him some traffic, but i dont think he will rank just like that.. I would listen advice of mickyfu, just leave this..

I have already decided to drop it, but everyone seems to be under the impression that I'm doing this for free, that isn't the case, the only reason he contacted me was actually cause he believed my services would be better cause I'm not cheap if that makes any sense. I sent a thank but no email so that's that but I will update on what happens from there.

You are right, I did just that. Advised him on the timeline of results and all that and he said he was willing to wait as long as it took...which I told him was not economical but hey dude is quite stubborn and has the resources but I want jobs where I get results and use em for case studies. So dropped it.
