Ask Me Anything about selling on eBay

Give an example

I manufacture and direct import my own stuff and to compete with my prices per unit it will cost you $500K minimum to set up a comparable setup in the US or you will have to figure out which 5 of the 200 chinese companies who call themselves "manufacturers" are really manufacturers and if you find them you will have to order minimum of $10K+ each order and prepay for it.

Toml3030 I have some newbie questions for you but it's because I have not had a return on ebay for over 6 years now and returns sure seem a lot different from back then to today which seems to now be called a request

When your the buyer and your going through a return/request/case and your being told that ''your seller has provided a return shipping label for the return of the item'' how does that work???

Is it printed off the sellers computer screen from an ebay print off page and then the label is shipped with a tracking number to the buyers address?
Does the seller have to go to that much work to get a return shipping label for the buyer?

Or does it not work like that at all and the seller can prepare the label however they want and there is almost never any proof that the seller sent a return label other then when the buyer says they have received the return label saying they received it?

How does the process work?

I actually like it better now, except that sometimes you have to pay for the return label.

1. Buyer files a return request
2. If the reason is for "just didn't like it" or "changed my mind", buyer purchases label and uploads tracking #
3. If the reason is for NAD or defective merchandise then the seller has to pay for return label. Seller does this by either uploading a JPG or PDF file of label purchased elsewhere or buys a label through eBay.
4. Buyer has 2 weeks to ship the return.
5. Once the seller receives return, he can refund and close the case with no defect to him.

is their anyway to use ebay to send traffic to your own website within a certain niche?

Not directly. You can add coupons to your own ecommerce site in packages to send buyers your way but you can not embed anything in listings to hijack traffic.

how about this -

advertise something for sale in my niche. Have it well overpriced so no actually buys it ( the intention is not to sell this item)

The first picture is a picture of the item "for sale" the second picture is a logo with my website name on it? People check out my website and see the same item is a lot cheaper on my website.

would this work?

The only safe way to sell these is to meet up and get paid in cash. You leaver yourself open to way too many scams selling these online, as well as being banned everywhere.

My question isn't related to bulk selling, but I'm about to load up some old video games and a CPU. From what I hear, ebay is a lot different from the 1990s lol. My question is, what can I do as a seller to ensure I don't get scammed by a buyer. I'm just selling personal items. My account is from the 1990s so I'm not afraid of getting flagged or anything. I'm not doing anything shady at all. I just am hesitant about scams on there.

1. Send everything with tracking.

2. Remember that only shipments to confirmed paypal address covers you under seller's protection.

3. Accurately describe the condition of the merchandise.

4. If anyone wants your paypal email address, it's a scam.

5. Remember, if they really want to steal from you, chances are they can be successful.

Thank you. It's appreciated. I've sold maybe 20 items on the account in 20 years but it's not expensive stuff and I have heard of all the ebay scams lately.

Would you say that selling through Amazon would be better? I sold some old video games through them maybe 10 years ago and everything went smoothly. Would you say it's safer to do it there?

If everything was the same selling on Amazon is better. They're quicker to reimburse sellers for scams, average prices are higher, and quality of buyers is better. Be prepared for LOTS of returns on Amazon, though.

I'm also looking for ways to sell digital amazon gift cards because I do get some from time to time however how do you meet up with someone and get paid in cash when the card is digital? Also where do you go to sell amazon digital gift card codes if your selling them in person I have never seen any for sale on Craigslist in my area so how is it possible to sell them in person then?

Hi... I whant to ask were you recomend to buy my products for selling on ebay? I try aliexpress , alibaba, and other sites that sell diferent products. I was have some problem with all: alibaba need manually to contact every seller( big time spending ), then try aliiexpress .... good but price can be more even that same products on ebay, same with other store. How can I improve my bussines ? Because in this way I cant reach more than 15 sales /month. Thank

So recently been selling some generic products on eBay and the listings I have up are being taken down constantly by the actual company by trademark violations. Now, a few days ago my sellers privilege was taken away for 7 days. When I get it back do you think its safe to keep on listing this product? I don't want to get permanently banned from eBay. Also, is there any way to bypass being taken down for trademark violations? I see all these other sellers that have their listings stay up and we are selling the same generic stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Just create a second account, test reposting and see how it goes.

The other option is to print out a key and mail it with tracking. HOWEVER, be aware that in any digital gift card transaction, the buyer will pretty much automatically win any disputes because eBay policy specifically states that digital gift cards are not allowed.

Generally you do not want to by buying from people representing themselves as drop shippers. You need to find a niche where the products aren't fungible, and find a supplier who will drop ship without recruiting drop shippers. As you are finding out, the buying stuff from ali and other sites mean that you're competing again a million people trying to do the same thing.
