This doesn't make sense. The product is either generic and not branded, or branded or fakes, and subject to VERO violations. It can't be both.

No. What's most likely to happen is a 30 day ban and then a permanent ban if you keep up the VERO violations.

Then stop selling branded items under accounts you don't want banned. You either need to go full stealth and get used to making new accounts all the time or find something else to sell.

There is no way around VERO violations if you've been flagged. Some brands have employees on eBay who take down listings all day and eBay gives them the power to control their own brand on eBay, even if your product is 100% legit. The way you can get away with selling branded items is if you have a very long term account with lots of activity and what country you're listing from. China and Hong Kong accounts used to be able to get away with pretty much anything, for example.

I'm curious about your opinion on this, tom. I know it would be a guess, but I'm confused by what could be this buyer's goals and I'm just generally curious and would like an opinion.

This happened a few years ago. I was selling Google Glass invites for $100. I sold a couple of them, and then one day I get another sale from someone who doesn't send me any info. I send them a message about it (those message filters are a pain in the ass) and heard nothing back. I fully expected to get a chargeback, but never did. I basically made $100 for nothing.

What could possible have been the motivation for that? I thought maybe give me bad feedback but even that didn't happen. Is there some nefarious thing a competitor can do with that?

I've had this happen a few times. I would guess that most of these are attempted scams gone wrong...they bought with stolen funds, hacked accounts, etc., and didn't get caught in time, or people just plain forget that they bought it. I used to work for a bank and it's not that uncommon that people have a 5 or 6 figure bank account and they disappear off the face of the earth.

Thanks for this. I didn't think of the failed scam angle. It's been a question in my mind since it happened and I couldn't figure out what would be someone's motivation in doing it. Great info as usual!

Why are the sold listings such b.s. half the time? Search Beauty and the Beast VHS and you will see what I'm talking about. When I check my own sold listings it only shows a random half of the stuff I sold. Showed one item sold hours after the sale and some just never show up. I look up something to see if its selling and apparently its not. So I then look at people that have it for sale and when I click the item they have like 15 sold some recently too.
I do a lot with slow moving items I don't really know much about and this makes research really hard. BTW I sell CL lots of anything I think is a great deal. My profits are based almost solely on how well I do my research on something before buying.

ebay is buggy. This is why people use 3rd party services like terrapeak to research what sold on eBay, not just scraping eBay site

Well, let's just say that largely disproportionate number of these "buyers disappear" type of orders come from high fraud countries. I don't think it's coincidence.

I advise against doing this.

1. feedback means nothing in eBay.

2. if you do this with a bunch of strangers and some people in the group run scams, you risk getting banned by association. Amazon is known to go back and research and link accounts of people who swap feedbacks and positive reviews with each other.

I just used a prepaid card that offers direct deposit because it has routing info. use the other number instead of account number.

If paypal holds your money, its 3 business days after tracked delivery or 21 days whichever comes first.

Is is worth is as a US seller to sell on ebay.co.uk and such? I take it I need a new account for that? I don't really even understand the difference. I ship out of country all the time and when I check ebay.ie its a ton of sellers from the states there.

If I did find some things to export couldn't I just rent a storage unit in that country and hire someone to ship stuff for me?

This probably depends on what you sell but in anything high risk I would avoid selling outside eBay global shipping program because you have even less protection against fraud if you ship international.

Don't sell anything high risk (gold coins, designer brands, apple stuff) and ramp up sales slowly. Don't start off by selling high risk items right off the bat as you said you were doing in the other thread. I age my accounts more than a year before I start really working it, and paypal has never given me problems, even when I started selling more risky items.

I'm not going to get specific because I don't want to give away too much, but I have had success building up stealth accounts by selling a low risk non branded item that I buy for $1.25 for $5.99 including free shipping and a custom made box. The shipping is $2.61 and the box is $0.38, so I'm basically making no profit off the item, but this sells one or two a day on average so after selling nothing but this item for a year, my stealth accounts have 300-500 sales and zero defects and zero late shipments. Then I slowly start adding in higher risk items (1 the first month, 3 the next month, 5 the 3rd month, etc.)

The only problem I have had using this system was a ID request from eBay which I suspect was from using a new VPN service that accidentally gave me a Canada IP instead of a California IP.

and how you solve the problem whit id request from ebay.?
And if i have dynamic like dynamic ip using mobil phone as router and ip is changing every 24h but country stays the same while ebay suspended ..?
