A lot of times people will do small transactions to see if the get cleared and then make a big one. A lot of credit card companies, Citi for me has one time disposable credit card numbers for me to use when online so if anyone steals that number and not my actual credit card, they will not be able to use that one time use credit card number again. I thought that was a pretty cool feature.

In 90% of times you need a Credit Card holder name. I would say 95% unless you are dealing with a really shitty bank which is very rare now.

Even if they have all your info, there is OTP which again most of the banks (actually all banks I know) are using. It became a standard so, you need the owner mobile phone to complete the transaction

There is no way to automatically check cardholder's name, only the address. AVS only checks the numeric characters at that. 123 Stupid Lane will pass if cardholder's address is 123 Dumb Lane. The only way they can verify that stuff is manually calling the bank and asking to confirm. Bank will not give the information to a merchant, but if merchant is the one who gives it to them they can say "yes" or "no".

That said, yes you can use the card information still. It is up to the merchant whether to check information. Professional carders know which sites do not.
