Godaddy Really Starting To Piss Me Off

So they have all my details whether I have domain privacy or not? Meaning that Godaddy's domain privacy is a bag of shit and means nothing?

If you don't read the post there is not much point commenting.

My issue is I pay for domain privacy, so I expect privacy. Now if Godaddy is selling my domain details and email, and personal details, that ain't private. And if people can find my details when I have purchased domain privacy, that also ain't private. Do you see my issue?

Yes. Only web developers will get that details (and they are somehow connected with Godaddy or the hosting you purchase from) or so they say. Now when the data gets passed around, they can say its not their fault.

No matter who you buy a domain name from if you don't get the domain privacy your info is free to scrape from the whois records.

Just like people scrap new business that are set up in a state to mass email or market to the same thing can be done with the domain names.

only way to stop that is 1 either buy the domain privacy or two use a catch all email address.

It seems these days that every time I purchase a domain at Godaddy I have to put up with 30 or so spam emails from so called "web designers". I can only assume that they can get my details from Godaddy (I may be wrong). However if Godaddy are selling my details on, then are they not breaking some kind of rules considering I am paying them for domain privacy. And if it is not Godaddy selling my details on, then isn't their domain privacy quite shit.

nah. Had that trouble with namesilo too. complained. and they told me I forgot whois protection. and if, you land on some list and you get spammed 4 life.

but, still leaves me with the mysterious spam I got to two cryptic tumblr mails I got in the past...

Yes, again, I do know this. My issue is I pay for domain privacy then get bombarded with emails from so called web designers. I mean, I wouldn't even want one of the c**ts to build me a site, as they have difficulty stringing a basic sentence together. To me it is like Godaddy are dumping my details on Fiverr, then I get hounded by tards. This ain't the one or two like it used to be, this is a shit load of tards hounding my email.

Plus another thing, a lot of them seem to come in one go, like minutes from registering a domain.

Its GoDaddy who is selling ypur info I think.
I had registered domain with whois protection recently, it was blocked for all bots, hence not indexed at all.

I received bunch of such mails so just ignored it. Later, after a week or two, I started getting SMS from web design and SEO firms with my domain name! So they are even giving out your mobile number it seems.

No, the majority of them come within minutes of purchase.

I've had the exact same issue with GoDaddy in the past, and that was with domain privacy. Doing a WHOIS on the site shows that details are withheld so I would only assume that GoDaddy had sold the details on. There would be no other way for these cold callers to get this information especially when they could rhyme off the domains I had.

I've never had this with Namecheap or Bluehost.

TBH this was the first thing I thought but as @mickyfu pointed out, they are addressing him by name so godaddy must be selling the information on. Either that or their privacy is not worth paying for!!

I have to agree with you here, especially since the "offers" come from people from speak pigeon English at best.

Also, I have had experience with these coming in a "bulk" i.e. 8 or 9 within 24 hours of reg, then.... nothing.
Something fishy I guess.

Same thing happened to me. Used Namecheap.

I registered domain & built site for a friend with an offline biz. Put a phone number above the fold.

Next day I had calls from seo & web dev agencies.

There are directories which list every domain newly registered. I've visited them before. Search and you can find them.

It's a decent method. Many biz owners head to an all-in-one site and use their site builder with little experience making their own website for a few bucks.

The calls we recieved were from agencies saying they were from Google (lol) promising top rankings.
