New Domain vs Expired Domain

Regarding building a money site, would it be better to build my website on a good expired domain with good stats and backlinks but not related to my keywords , or would it be better just to register a brand new domain and go from there?

I've had success with building money sites on expired domains with non relevant niches, but that was some time ago and it was with churn and burn niches. Now I try to find niche relevant domains.

I found this domain that was from a book editor before, has some really good links and stats, but Im far far away from the book niche xD

In my experience it just depends on how you plan to monetize your site and how long you want to keep it. If you are only doing SEO and aren't worried about building a brand and doing Social or SEM then go for the expired domain and exploit the stats. If you need branding to establish trust for sales or want to do some paid ad campaigns then go for something brandable and or niche related.

Yes I have, it has good links. I'm just really unsure on what is the best to do here

If its not relevant to your niche, It would become a total waste of time even if it has got great links and metrics. I would personally suggest to go for new domain and apply the promotion methods you've got. That would work better than the expired domain of irrelevant niche.

Expired. And it's not even close. The amount of money you save on SEO is sick. However, you want strong niche relevant domain with brandable name, which might be quite a problem until something suitable appears on auctions.

You can also work with non relevant domains and even those bring enough boost that they are worth it. I've been working with non relevant domains a lot as well. The benefit is still massive. Not as good as with relevant domains, but still worth the money you will save on SEO campaign overall.

If you search for expired domains in your niche and get one which is very clean in backlink history and spam free, you can go with the expired domains. Or else, you can go with the new brandable site.

Thank you all for the answers, I think Im gonna go for the Non relevant expired domain, I'll probably start a journey so we can all know how well it will work. Im gonna use a domain that was previously from a book editor to rank for a local business in my city.
