remove LIKES made by BANNED users

My suggestion is removing all LIKES made by banned users.


The marketplace is filled with similar products. One of the first indication of whether a service is good or not is the number of likes it has. Of course, you have to read through 100's of pages of reviews as well. If you look at the example below from a thread in Web Design. Out of the 28 likes that it has, only 5 users accounts is not banned. This is just an example, nothing against this seller.

Maybe this should be applied to marketplace threads only. In case user gets banned his like does not count any longer in marketplace section.

To do this sort of forum wide this would influence whole lot of members and numbers would be changed a lot.

I just checked a few of the profiles that could be found over google and all of them are registered within a month timeframe, have 10-20 posts asking for samples in custom niche site bst, their gender filled out and a profile picture. You can't tell me that 20 people or even more all act the same way and like some specific posts. I'm just curious that this mainly happens in Web Design BST and especially in multiple of them, not only in one.

In my opinion, it's not OP's fault whether a liker got banned nor not.. So why remove it?

It might also happen that the user genuinely liked some thread/content/product and got banned lateron. Even if he/she got banned, it still means that he/she liked it.. Isn't it?

Yet it seems in the middle of all the garbage and "friendly" likes, there are a few genuine gems.

From a buyer's perspective reading sales thread, I will ignore all the reviews from banned users. This includes reviews made by X-mod like BigDaddy. Because to me, they are less trustworthy. I can manually ignore banned reviews. But it's not really possible with likes.

Absolutely. That is the point! Likes are just likes!! I might like a marketplace thread posted by my buddy but that does not mean I like the product. I guess reviews and marketplace feedbacks would be a better indicator (but still not enuf). So there's no point removing the banned likes as they serve no real purpose..

Not so sure, it would depend if there's a pattern forming.
There's plenty of Fiverr review exchange groups etc, even on here. Doesn't mean there's not a similar set up on FB or Skype to influence likes on certain threads.

I posted a clear example above of 2 randomly chosen services, 1 has 125 likes half of which are banned users ( at leaste ) the other has 105 likes and only 3 from banned users.
I'd be more inclined to trust the one with only 3 banned profiles.

Yepp. One solution could be to remove those kind of users from db itself instead of banning them.. and add their login ips to the blacklist.

All likes from banned users should be removed. With the shennanigans I've seen on this forum, who's to say the comments only benefit marketplace threads and not other threads created by users? Definitely people buy post likes on here covertly like they do Reddit, why let this continue on?
