This advice applies to any aspect of life. If you're unhappy about something you do, don't do it. Don't keep pushing through thinking you'll start enjoying it. If it doesn't click for you then it's not for you. People like different things, and you don't have to mold yourself to like it. With that said, would make money with IM change or effect your mood towards it? IF so, then you're in it for all the wrong reasons as IM takes time, patience, skill, and knowledge. Everyone starts from the bottom and works their way up, some people learn faster and other take longer. Do what makes you happy, try to find different aspects of IM that you enjoy or just find a different money making method, there are tons around.

Hey Elin,

Have you considered trying to screen record your game play and commentary and sharing it with others on Twitch or YouTube? Lots of people succeed with that, and the good part of it is that it really centers around building a community of people who just enjoy interacting with you. Not sure if it is something you'd be interested in, but thought it might offer a good intersection between your interests and online earnings.

At first I only got into IM because of that lie that you could easily make a lot of money with it and live the life you want. I was almost duped by pyramid schemes and marketing gurus. As time went on I found myself disliking the methods themselves and not because I was having difficulty making any money. Turns out that it is the business aspect of marketing that I'm having problems with. I cut ties with certain areas that were messing with my "inner zen". I couldn't be at peace while doing them, so they had to be dropped.

I've thought about it a number of times. I would have to do other methods first to get the money for a new phone and computer. I tried editing 1 video on my laptop and it would freeze for 20-30 seconds while attempting to play the recording + music at the same time, lol.

I am studying in top university in my country.

However, I enjoy my job so much that i consider it as an art! Marketing is my love

Yea this is definitely not a get rich quick scheme. Not at this stage in the game, learn this as a hobby and I'm sure you will enjoy it much better!!

Well I am no millionaire but what I can tell you from my experience is the fact that IM is NOT only about spamming and churn n burn stuffs. I am a full time web developer by profession so I am closely related to the IM world. I have worked and working with people who actually enjoy their work quite a lot!

Fortunately, IM is not a single niche! So, what you are looking for really is what you like to do. First find what you love to do, and find what is missing out there. Then bridge the gap and sell it to the right people! This might sound easy but it is not actually easy to do, but then.. that's what you are looking for! If making money on the internet was easy, then everyone who knows how to start a browser would be billionaires by now lol.

If you look at the biggest businesses in the globe, you will find something common in them. Almost all of them have some product that solves some problem.

Many people will disagree with me here, but I personally think that spamming isn't a way to grow business. I would rather try building a business that is going to grow with me, rather than the churn n burn ones.

Most importantly, you should brainstorm and find out what you like, then improve what is currently available in the market. That's how to do it IMHO.

Again, I am no guru by any means.. Just wanted to share what my thoughts are. :)

Best of luck!

Well good! There's always room in the business, you just need to find what works for you. For me, I feel much the same way you do. I want an authentic life with authentic relationships, so this business is the way I'm able to spend more time with my wife and kids. I enjoy figuring out how things work, which is what has allowed me to maintain my interest in this for as long as it has.

I don't understand how can one enjoy any kind of work, but looks like it's about me rather. It is all about money.

but then what is the point when it feels like a chore?

No,no, only during that learning curve frame, it's like that, then I'll get to "collect the gems", not to mention that I'm not just learning, but also playing in between. I mean, being able to smash your opponent, being in the higher league it's great.

Why do soccer fans watch Messi, Ronaldo and pro games? Because they fantasize about being there, playing like them, because it's also out of their league. Don't you want to get things that you can't normally get? Scarcity at its beauty.

Why do it when it's not enjoyable? Think about this. Think of it in terms of your purpose for working, living and existing. Does the thing you do satisfy you? I come from a lower-class family and grew up in "urban" areas. I know all about that feeling of having to work to survive, etc, but so what? This doesn't mean that I wouldn't rather sit there all day and have fun if I could get away with it. I don't value hard work, because it's not something that brings me happiness but was forced upon me due to tough situations.

There are bodybuilders out there who enjoy doing it, but do you really think those hard working hours were enjoyable? Definitely not. But they are now big muscle guys as they are collecting the rewards. Kudos to them.

Even @mancar487 said that at first you'll smash your head over your keyboard, so don't listen me, listen to mancar. For example, I want to create games, or make a fully functional website, but the coding is an obstacle to me. If I had the knowledge to build games, that's what I do.

Let me tell you something about the studies on "how our brain works"

I don't base my knowledge on other's people studies. I base my knowledge based on my analytics skills, figured out things, experience, you get it.

"The scientists say" most of the time is just BS imo. "Scientists said that if you watch women breasts every day, you extend your life by ~5 years".

That's so vague and doesn't provide anything. Hell, I can even invent one by myself: " Scientists said that if you have one testicle bigger than the other, you last 15 minutes longer in bad". See? Means jack shit.

I'm the exception to the rule

You just think you're. You think you're diffenrent, a special snowflake, but you're like everybody, at least from your "inner core", the way of our brain is wired. I mean, if you'd be truly different, then marketing would be a hella hard game.

And from a rational POV, You probably think you're smart. Guess what?

Anybody thinks that.

Kind of like how coffee tends to make me sleepy instead of give energy

I believe anybody is like that. Coffee's effect doesn't comes into play until after 30-60 minutes. My father fall asleep at least 2-3 times after I made him coffee. If somebody thinks coffee is having any effect in the first 10 minutes, that's just placebo, I'm pretty sure.

About alcohol, it depends honestly: if you talk about beer, well I hate it too. And generally, addicted people are just trying to escape from reality. Like I did with gaming...

You may not even realize that I have walked both paths before and have analyzed where I failed only to come to the conclusion that both ways aren't necessarily the right paths to take.

What you don't realize is that your thinking or mindset is limited by the borders of your brain. Just because you think that you identified 2 paths, doesn't means there aren't others.

Back in 2013, I used to sit outside, thinking about conceptions of life, and how important I thought I am. I was egocentrist at a pro level, I thought world surrounds around me, and that my ideology was correct. I couldn't see how bad I was. Not saying that you're in the same spot as me, you're way better than me, it's just that you don't see beyond of how much you can process now.

But you will, at least I did. I was helped by environments, and my logical brain figured stuff out of the box.

Welcome back, bro.

@Elin Dotsya, don't sweat it. Doubt and failure are all part of the process. If you jumped in and were successful immediately, you would have learned nothing. It takes time. Took me a few years to find something solid and run with it.

Choose a method from BHW
and Do Much research and add some twist
and you are ready to earn :)

I've been a member here for about 4 years now. Never made any decent money online. Why do I stay? Because I enjoy being here and I firmly believe one day I will strike gold. I have been too busy in my day job to dedicate all my time to this but my industry is now dead so I have no choice but to diversify.

Not sure which way I will go yet, I'm fortunate that I still have an income to keep me afloat while I choose my next move so hopefully I can change direction soon and start something new.

Only you can decide what you're going to do though.

NO, you don't have to spam to make money in IM. There are numerous methods to do it in a decent manner. But yes, if things are boring then you are not gonna enjoy doing it as the first few months/years is all boring stuff.

Pick a niche you actually are interested in.

I don't want to look like another guru here...but try this:

Don't chase methods that promise you a lot of money and success.

Instead, start a blog with something you are interested in, a hobby, a passion, e.g. travelling blog.

Write about 'your travels', build a community, learn some SEO to improve your rankings, keep writing, grow your community...and DON'T THINK about money (yet).

After 1-2 years of actively taking care of your blog and writing engaging, interesting articles...you will find yourself with a huge valuable community that love what you do and want to support you.

Also, in that 1-2 years you will learn SO much more about 'travelling' (the stuff you love) just from your article writing/researching. You will be more confident, you will know EXACTLY what your community wants, and you will figure out much easier how to monetize your blog.

Cheers

@Elin Dotsya , your problem is common one. You lack willpower. Walls of texts in this thread won't help you. Life is eating shit until you start to enjoy it. Stop saying NO. Because "enjoying" is related mostly with familiarity. Something outside of comfort zone produces stress, and isn't enjoyable because it requires huge brain effort or induces fear. Fear of unknown and fear of failure. Once you build a habit, brain starts to like it. I have tried so many things in life, both online and offline.

Everyone who REALLY tried, made some money. I'm sure of it. Really tried does not include : only thinking about it, reading, planning, having ideas, scrolling forum, doing things that don't benefit anyone or doing things that are never seen by people.

QUIT BITCHING BITCH, slap yourself, quit babbling about metaphysics, and do something already, do it for 18 hours a day and you'll make it 100%. Working less comes later. Don't worry.

Or don't. Live life of majority, stuck in excuses loop.

Lots of people don't like working, but they still have to work. There are a lot of career paths in the world, but none of them are enjoyable 100% of the time. If the result of being successful in IM allows you to lead the type of life you want to lead, then you should try to learn more until it becomes more enjoyable. Fragmaster is right on - "enjoying" is related to familiarity. Learning something new and difficult is not that enjoyable in real life. If you became successful in IM and 5 years from now have the freedom to work online and live the type of lifestyle you're dreaming of, you wouldn't be saying you hate IM and spamming, you'd be saying "I'm glad I persevered and learned something new and difficult."

So keep challenging yourself, keep looking for niches and twists that make the day-to-day grind more interesting and rewarding for you. Build a social media account or blog in a niche that interests you. You can keep learning the technical skills you need while your account or blog grows and gives you the encouragement you need to continue. Then by the time it's big enough maybe you'll have the knowledge to monetize it. Once you start making some money, I'm sure you'll find IM more enjoyable. :)
