I thought a long time; what can I do to make money online too? So tried lots of methods on BHW, some worked better than others, in the end it all comes down to the execution by the person. Not by the method, well that's my opinion TBH.

So I thought, what can I do, to make my own method, to make myself feel comfortable with it?
After a while I came up with an idea, based on stuff I've learned from my studies back in the days.
Basically it consists out of setting up free WiFi networks. It may sound boring, but what I do brings in quite a lot of money.

For example. I drive to a shopping center, set up a WiFi network there and give them a landing page like many of the legit free networks. Instead of giving them a legit one, I give them my own landing page. Sometimes it consists out of Google ads, sometimes a content locker, etc. Lots of variations I do with this.

Besides this, they have to register, like most landing pages for free networks, which gives me a lots of different mail addresses, which I use once in a while.

In shopping centers I offer them ofcourse a landing page with lots of shopping related items, so it seems legit.
But besides this, there are a lot of different other places. Used this method at some airport carparks, not far from the terminals, and supplied it with a free WiFi. Instead of serving them a shopping landing page, I offer them a travel landing page, with ofcourse the ads, or a content locker.

Up to now, it brings me about 300£ a day on average for the last 9 months.

I think it was about time for me to bring something back to BHW, the place where I've learned a lot from others. A lot of variations are possible with this method. Just let your mind go .

Phone + router + big battery pack?
Or can you set up captive portal on android device w/ mobile hotspot?

I am planning to do so with android mobile phone.

Visitor volume depends on how popular the place you go to set up shop is. You can do it at fast food restaurants, movie theaters, malls, and hotels.

As for making money on it, I'm sure you've seen captive portals. Usually when connecting to public wifi, you're sent to a custom welcome page asking you to accept ToS or something. That's a captive portal.
The method is you make your own kind of page like that. But instead of showing a corporate welcome screen, show them a cpa offer to complete in order to continue. Email submits/app downloads are popular for this. See: content locking.

Can you tell us which affiliate programs allow us

Yes I have told them, had to come with proof ofcourse. Because who would believe anyone that does an offer 100 times from the same ip?
Landing pages don't only contain offers ofcourse, it's like a legit looking website. For example the airport one I have; Got flight times on it, latest last minutes from certain operators and go on.
And up to now i've always got away with it that way. But maybe I might just be lucky for now?

Who said they allow it? I would get in touch with them and ask. But even if "they" allow it, does not mean the advertisers will allow it. Would you? If you were advertising something through CPAgrip, and you noticed all your ads are the same IP? I'm sure you would say no thanks, not interested.

My opinion is even if you got this going, it would be short lived. And one pay day, you are going to get that email "sorry don't accept your traffic, have a good day, goodbye".

DD-WRD Compatible Router (with USB port for USB 4g Dongle) on it's way & a network cable. Domain name registered to appear as a 'legit' Wifi provider.
I'm lucky to live near a few restaurants and cafe's, going to see whether this works. If it does, off to the mobile store to get a dongle and a 30gb data sim plan. Then to take to a shopping centre.

can you update us on whether this works or not? in addition to which cpa sites you're using

really wanted to use this method so i did some research on how to monetize this via cpa. here goes:

1. buy a repeater and router with ddwrt and connect them.
2. set up your landing page that gives 3 links to email submit offers. ask people to pick one and fill out to access free wifi.
3. park in a mall with lots of people and good wifi. power up the router and repeater through your car lighter. the repeater will let you jack into the mall wifi and the ddwrt will provide various ip addresses. this solves the ip address problem with your cpa network.
4. you can also make this portable by bringing all these in a backpack with two powerbanks to juice up the router and repeater. that way you can go around the mall or sit in a mcdonalds instead of your car.

sorry im new to all this tech and terminology, but does the ddwt change ip addresses occasionally to make this possible? I really want to try this

I have a laptop, and I do have a decent wifi dongle which was used for my desktop when I didn't have a direct ethernet cord. Its a usb dongle can I use that to pick up free hotspots or do I need a different attena?
--- if using this method you'll be fine, as you are basically repeating an existing signal. What you have sounds like it'll work. (Though there is another, way, get an android 4g & wifi receiver with an Ethernet, charge and plug in to your router)

Also laptops usually come with a wifi adaptor installed internally anyway because they are portable.

1. how many outlet adaptors do I need to purchase for my car to plug devices into?
--- Assuming you use a car, rather than get a battery and bag it up and go inside a shopping mall, 1 for the laptop, 1 for the router.

2. So my laptop is plugged into its own outlet and a router with DD-WRT support is plugged into it own?
--- Your router is now connected via Ethernet to the laptop (or in the suggestion above, the android wifi receiver). DD-WRT will also need chillportal installed.

3. Using the usb dongle how would I send that connection to the router? Then I need to make it unsecured obviously and be able to rename it how would I do this?
Buy a router with USB capability and plug is straight in the side. DD-WRT supports a broad selection of them, look ip their wiki. For the captive portal / naming the network, that's all in the router / DD-WRT.

4. Now where do you host your welcome landing pages on? Do you use a website you already have then just make a hidden page? Secondly how do I input this landing page into the wifi portal so that when people do connect it automatically loads? How do I do this? I have some wordpress sites that im not using much at the moment but I can log into them and make a page and put some offers on it etc but how would I use that same url as the welcome page when people connect to the wifi?
--- they're hosted on your website (you create it as an exception from the allowed sites on the router). Next step, I'm clueless, my router is en route and I'll find out this weekend.

5. As it stands I think I have to buy a new router, dongle possibly, and outlet adapters for my car, is there anything else that I am missing?
--- depending how you do it, either new high powered router, use your laptop and outlet adapters for the car. Or android wifi receiver with Ethernet, ethernet to a tp link captive portal router (outdoor) and buy a high amp 12v battery.

Isn't it possible to make the user get through the content locker using their own data before letting them use your wifi connection? That way all the offers are going through with different IP's. I think this idea is do able if you can figure a way around the users all having the same IP

The router I've ordered has arrived (if you look up the dd-wrt wiki you can find a list of routers that are capable of running it). I've chosen one with strong signal, the ability to hold a tonne of users and a USB port either for a 4g USB stick or a wifi receiver.

From what I understand once DD-WRT is installed as well as chill portal, all is good to go.

If you read through the whole thread, the information to test the concept is there - proof to whether it works, ability to find an affiliate program and income. Now that's where you'll need to put the leg
