Content is the backbone. That is why you will see a blog attached to all business website. Search Engines tend to deliver the most useful results. Also, it is easier to build links for your content pages than directly for product or business pages.

Though some people may disagree but I think good content will put you in a nice position to rank.

A couple of months back, I got a low competition keyword. I put up a wordpress site and post a 2000 word article on the front page. In like a week I was ranking for a lot of keywords, some of these on page 2 and 3 of Google. It was hard to believe and I had to consult some experienced members here. I can only attribute this to the content (I wrote it myself) and on-page optimization.

Now my writing jobs don't give me much time on that website. I believe if I can shoot it with some guest posts and web 2.0s, some of those keywords should make page 1.
