username taken

Hey all I know this is a long shot, but there's a seemingly inactive account (eyeballing it for the past year or so, no extra followers/following/etc) that has a username I'm looking for. It's not some crazy common name, or a sought-after 3 character name, so I've been having bad luck looking...

I'm trying to register a new Instagram account for my new website/project. When I got to the link: instragram.com/thenameiwant I can see the URL does not exist. Therefore, it should be available. When I try to register a new account with the username I want, it shows as being already taken. But...
