registering domains

Pros? Cons? Any insight on the difference? I am looking at creating about 7-8 domain names under .com Looking for 2 year registry and also private under the WhoIs/Icann search. I have one existing registered at godaddy, I think I paid to much. Or is there a different place I can do this at...
