Wanna make money like Zynga? Too bad. Too late into the industry. They're already sitting on it like champs.

They make money because of those stupid games (which I am embarrass to say, my husband plays...farmville). People will actually spend money on those little games.

$1. * users who plays those stupid games = Lots of money for Zynga.

I have to agree with Mr. Smith. Don't bother copying Zynga success. Maybe if you come up with something new (as in different...not another Farmville, etc. game) and improved, you *might* be able to make a bit of cash off of facebook.

Zynga has a three tier monetization model:

In-Game/In-Stream Advertising on a CPM basis
    Virtual Currency based Upsells
Content Network Partnerships(Facebook paid them for awhile if I remember right)

Who said it's too late into the industry? it's far from late. There's still very big opportunity on this and i will be entering this too. What you need is addicting game and monetize from there.
