The Apps are here! Control AdWords and Bing Ads from your iPhone

It's here. You now have the ability to control AdWords from your iPhone. The app for Android was released in early 2015, so the iOS version was long overdue. Bing ads is already available for both operating systems. Even though you can't manually add keywords, or create a new campaign or text ad, there's a lot you can do that will add value and convenience.

TIP OF THE WEEK:
Are You Using DYNAMIC KEYWORDS?

Overheard at the Affiliate Marketer water cooler... "I need an edge man. Some of the other guys are catching up to me. I need something to kick start my PPC ads." Here's a way of using the AdWords tool that many affiliates have not yet embraced: Dynamic Keyword Insertion (DKI).

DKI is an advanced feature of Google AdWords wherein you (the advertiser) place a small code in your ad that allows you to use one ad for multiple keywords. It saves you from having to write ten different ads (if that's how many keywords you are using).

TIP OF THE WEEK:
What Does "Search Friendly Design" Really Mean?
It's in the name. The process of building your website so that it is readable by search engine spiders is what we refer to when we say "search friendly design." This is referred to as "crawlable."

Here are the things you should do so that your website has a search friendly design:
Title Tags, Meta Descriptions and URLs:
  • <title> Tag - tells a search engine the "topic" of the page and should be placed within the <head> tag of the HTML document. You should create a unique title for each page on your site. Your title tag is also helpful to searchers because they are usually posted in the search result.
  • Meta Description Tag - tells the search engine in greater detail what the page is about and also appears in the <head> portion of your HTML document.
  • URL - It's important to remember that the URL to a document is displayed in search results so it's seen by the both the search engine and the user.
Toolbar: This is a great tool to help grade your site's searchability.

Internal Links
: It's important to create internal links to other pages on your site. The search engines love when you link to other content on your site.

TIP OF THE WEEK:
Do you know your ABCs of SEO?
If every picture tells a story, then every letter does too. We'll help you with your SEO efforts one letter at a time.

A- Anchor Text: The words shown in a web document that link to a different document. It's best to make them as seamless and natural sounding as possible. For example: Something sounds better than something else...

B- Bing: The overlooked search engine. If you're in a highly competitive keyword category, with the high prices on AdWords to go with it, check out Bing for an affordable and profitable alternative to Google.

C- Crawl
: A web crawler is a bot, or internet robot if you will, that crawls the web, generally for the purpose of ranking of websites. This is the first step in how search engines rank sites. The crawler reads your site, then decides its relevance and quality.

Think of these as snapshots, put them together and it becomes the album that is your website. Get the entire SEO alphabet. Click here from read A to Z

1. Let's get the biggie out of the way: How do I get on the first page?
2. What platforms and software do you recommend for better SEO?
3. Does Social Media really make a difference?

TIP OF THE WEEK:
Switch to HTTPS Before Google "Marks" Your Site as Insecure.

If you haven't already made the switch from http to https, it's time you do. Google may well be penalizing you for not having the most up to date, most secure site possible; http has no data security measures, but https does. As an affiliate marketer, security should really be your first priority.

Google has said that without https, Google Chrome will "mark" the site as insecure
.
This may not be a direct connection to a lower ranking, but over time, we suspect that it will be. As Google continues to emphasize the importance of internet security, it only makes sense that one of the ways to do that is to punish sites that don't have https. Learn how to make the switch by clicking here.

TIP OF THE WEEK:
5 TIPS: Work Smarter from Home

Do you work from home?
The numbers indicate that one in five Americans do. We realize that most affiliate marketers do so as well, which is why we thought it'd helpful to provide a few ideas to make the experience a healthier and more rewarding one.

Here are 5 Helpful Tips:
1. Make a Schedule (and Stick to it!): If you work from home, you may think you don't need to make a schedule because you aren't physically going into work. That's a rookie mistake, because you are going into work! It's important to make a schedule and stick to it, because without one, you may start doing less and less work, until you're productivity completely drops.

2. Create a to-do list at the end of your workday: Writers as diverse as Ernest Hemmingway and John Waters say one of the keys to becoming a successful writer is to leave yourself a starting point the next day. You don't want to come into a cold, blank sheet of paper. Likewise, you don't want to start your work day without a sense of direction. Leave yourself a short list of things to do at the end of each day.
