i have 50k legit views on a monetized vid, however, ive made no money , is this normal? thanks

Absolutely. And it has to do with Google's crummy means of advertising through YouTube. When watching a video, who wants to click on a preview video? Who wants to click on the banner ad on the right side? People want to simply watch the video, MAYBE watch a second on the right-hand side, and then leave.

Also, embedded YouTube videos on 3rd party websites don't have commercials to click on (not that anyone would do so), so that's lost revenue there.

I have one video with over 30,000 hits and haven't earned a penny yet.

noway man, something must be wrong. I have adsense clicks from yt monetized videos with less views.

While I wouldn't say that it is exactly normal, I can see how this can easily happen. People are there to watch the video not to click away to another webpage.

It's definitely not unheard of, regrettably. People come to YouTube to watch a video, usually one that they have chosen in advance, and so they're not going to be in any hurry to click on something that is not entirely related to it. Truth is, YouTube videos are not really that lucrative a method of IM; at least at the moment they're not, perhaps that will change at some point.

The best way to monetize with youtube is to have a video which give the feeling at the end that "I want more" and thus overlaying your url in the video which will point to a written guide, is the way to go

yes its not normal,
your videos might be flagged or your videos might contain copyrighted content
well about me if I see, I have 400K+ legit views and I earned about 200$
