Youtube's Hosting Fee.

Has anyone ever stopped and thought, I wonder how much youtube spends a month on hosting?

I mean Im pretty sure they have their own hosting lol, but having all those videos and people constantly streaming them....


DAMN.

I mean they get 1Billion video views a day which is like over 40M views an hour. How can youtube be profitable lol.

I believe Youtube just barely makes enough to run around on its own with their ads. I think they've been more aggressive lately in putting the ads into the tubevideos. Also google has them targetted, so they should be able to pull through with a bit of $$$. Remember who owns them anyway

My networking teacher, who has worked for Microsoft and some big name web companies, told me that Google is actually losing money at the money with YouTube, and quite a good bit. I wouldnt be surprised if they became much more aggressive with ads very soon.

Yah, lots of "Big" websites are barely profitable, including facebook

When big G bough YT I heard they were losing $25Mill a month on hosting.

That's the thing about staying on top...You offer sh*t for FREE because people like FREE sh*t. As soon as you charge them a little they whine, cry and bitch like little girls - a lot of them! However, there's a lot who would pay a little fee too to further support the site. Think how much they would save & make if they started charging a one off fee of 10 dollars? Look on the other side, see how many people they'd lose too....

It's a game of finding a way to make $$$ while still keeping your leeches happy. The leeches bring traffic, so in terms of that, they still need those people
