I usually scan the web non-stop looking for stuff like this. Invariably, when I discover that no one else is posting it (either that or G**gle is censoring it like mad), I finally get tired of searching and post it myself, as it is with most all in-depth issues I try to find quality information on. I don't take many notes. It's a bad habit of mine ever since school. So I don't have everything right in front of me. So I'll continue to update Youtube's Dirty Little Secrets and add them to this thread as I remember or discover them.

All of the Youtube's Dirty Little Secrets are, of course, first and foremost put into place to accomplish one goal; to prevent you from making money, even if you've busted your behind making quality videos to legitimately earn it. After all, why give money away when you can just keep it?

Youtube Dirty Little Secret #1:
Youtube puts ads in your videos that are completely inappropriate for the video that is being viewed. For instance, you're watching a video on how to become a Rocket Scientist, and Youtube inserts an ad about how to be a dirt farmer in Bangladesh. Yeah, a WHOLE lot of people viewing that video are going to click that ad alright.

Youtube Dirty Little Secret #2:
Youtube often groups your videos with completely unrelated videos, despite using proper tag words. After all, what's the point of having your video on 'acoustic systems' grouped with other videos on 'acoustic systems' when it makes so much more sense to be grouped with videos on how to care for the special needs dyslexic wombats?

Youtube Dirty Little Secret #3:
This is what I refer to as the "kill the patient to cure the disease" technique. And Youtube uses it, a lot. Youtube doesn't just error on the side of caution, they gravitate towards it more than flies to a mortician. Might that view you just received have been requested through a bogus proxy? The relentless Youtube algorithm say the probability is only a mere 1.106 percent. That's enough. Discredit that view. - What's this. You just got another view. Wait, that view just came from the same guy in Mongolia who viewed your video 29.8 days ago. Discount that view as well. No double-viewing.

Youtube Dirty Little Secret #4:
This one's a bit obvious but still worthy of mention. If you make any kind of Anti-Youtube video ... a rant about Youtube policy (much like this post) that hits too close to home, that video will be shoved back onto the VIC-20 servers they were using in 2005 and will never be seen by human eyes.

YouTube is all SEO, the reason all these dirty secrets, you say, are happening is because you lack knowledge on SEO.

Ads are placed automatically based off the SEO [that you don't know of] so whatever SEO you have the ads will reflect that. (if you have shitty tags, titles, etc, expect Bangladesh porn or whatever ads you see)

YouTube has no problems with anti-YouTube videos, I know of very popular people who bash on YouTube and are huge partners, that get piad to do it. As long as you don't break TOS, they don't give a fuck.



TL;DR All these points you make are due to the lack of knowledge regarding SEO.

Let's find out.

If your video is about, say, monuhull boats, and the title of your video is Monohull Boats, and the first two words in your description is monohull boats, and your first two tag words are 'monohull' and 'boats,' and the rest of your tags are directly related to monohull boats, then why does the video get lumped in with camels and new applesauce making methods rather than anything to do with boats? And why would many of the ads be just as unrelated? Although SEO is an art and a science, it's relatively straight forward and it doesn't require a 160 I.Q. Perhaps you have some enigmatic SEO secrets that you'd like to share with us. Please do.

Maybe they're not ranting close enough to home. Give me the perfect tag words for a general Youtube rant video, or point me to one that has good tag words and I'll be more than happy to test your theory.

I once did a video exactly how you explained it and the video wasn't SEO'd...

Of course he or anyone else will care to share a little tip that will help this topic, but this is BHW, if he gives us the secret he will think we will be taking away form his $100000/Day method..

Absolutely correct. I think your signature speaks the truth here... "Just calm the fuck down."
 
I have seen games ads when watching games videos.

But those ads has always been for the big name brands.

Maybe they treat those big brands with more respect than they do the smaller guys.

I have never seen targeted ads (those small ads that pop up inside the video) when watching i.e movie trailer of x. :/

Or maybe no one is promoting directly to those videos.


Either way, Utube has a huge advertising platform and it could be a gold mine if it was more targeted (if your claims are true).
 
this is funny just make the damn money I earn 500$ a day on youtube the key is stop wasting your time finding dirty secret, and invest time how to earn cash this is nonsense tread
 
Outside of things you can control like titles, tags and descriptions I'm pretty sure the video visitors viewing history comes into play in regards to your related video.

That's great. I wish they would put such related ads in my videos on a consistent basis. As I've said, often times they are completely unrelated; My titles and tags are unambiguous. If the ad is so far removed from the topic of the video, very few if any will click on it. That's your revenue, as you know. As an aside, also notice that almost everything that comes up is related to toys more than actual monohull boats. You can argue the point if you like, but what I've said holds true. Fact: Youtube puts ridiculously unrelated ads in videos much of the time.

I've noticed the results. I didn't use the term or title "F*ck Youtube," as my title is a little more tame, although it does contain the word 'Youtube' and concise rant words. And with the more salient and poignant tag words in the description and tags section, you'd think you see other related videos. I'm getting related videos such as, "How to get six pack abs," or "Amazing Grace, sung by Joe Blow Douchebag Anderson."

Also, note how many of these "F*ck Youtube" videos have been up there two years or more and have very few views. Not exactly front cover material as far as YT is concerned, eh? Remember, if it's invisible, it doesn't exist.

Is does come into play somewhat. But not as much as related video titles and tags.

Care to share in the ideas you have used to make $500/day on Youtube. I am sure you don't want to but I have to ask.

Just keep in mind that ads aren't created automatically, ad teams creates them and send them to Adsense. There's not going to be ads for every single category in the world, that also matches the ad teams requirements for viewership. But SEO does help a lot. I'd suggest go finding a video that relates to your video with a lot of views, likes, etc and look at what kind of meta data they have and do some that are similar.


Regarding anti-YouTube, well duh they aren't going to promote videos that hate on them, but keep in mind something like 72 HOURS of video is uploaded every MINUTE, so YouTube can't make everything popular here. There's hundreds of thousands, if not millions of videos that probably have 0 views that have been up for years.

Another factor that comes into play is that no advertisement is directly in your niche/keywords. It may be possible that they are basically finding the next best or next most relevant video there. However, I find it hard to believe that they do this ALL THE TIME. Basing on your posts, it seems that you are saying that they do this ALL THE TIME. This is not true in my case.

Definitely not all of the time, but enough to make a person wonder. I realize they may not have the perfect ad in videos at all times. I'm a realist. But when the ads become so far removed from the topic so often, you have to scratch your head and wonder what's going on.

I know from my own personal experience, when I'm watching a video and a very related ad pops up, I may often click on them to check it out (which is the whole point). But, like I said, when I'm watching a video on building skyscrapers and an ad on how to crochet comes up, not only is it uninteresting, it's actually an annoyance. Youtube/Adsense should be well aware of this psychological fact. And believe me when I tell you that mega corps. like Youtube/G**gle hire the smartest and most scarily brilliant human behavioral psychologist in the consumer study fields they can find to help structure their ad campaigns. They would put Joseph Goebbels and Edward Bernays to shame. So there are only two possibilities. Either someone is seriously dropping the ball on their ad placement campaigns, or they're deliberately doing it with a degree of intention to limit channel owners' revenue. For whatever reason, I find the latter easier to believe.

Well in the first place Youtube has their own way in implementing rankings and other stuff. Google owns them now and gives them more priority that other video sites.
