How do I know if a YouTube video got removed because of buying views? It's not my video but someone else's.
It says the video has been removed by the user, but the uploader of the video says it got removed by YouTube because of fake views.

They usually notify with a message. Maybe someone had access to his account and deleted it?

He says he got a message from YouTube. How do I know if it's a legitimate message from YouTube?

There's really no way to prove it. If the page says the user removed, he deleted it either because he wanted to or because he received a message and didn't want to risk getting a strike on the channel. Maybe he can add you as a moderator and you can see the message for yourself in the youtube admin panel?
