I mean they claim they've been doing this all along.
If you advertise on Youtube and put in a claim because you think you've been click-jacked, they give you chapter and verse on how views are audited, how channels are checked, how copyright is enforced.
They are just going to try harder.
Not knocking the OP - it's true that Youtube say this - it's just more Google bollox to pile on top of the huge mound of half truths, evasions and self interest dressed up as philanthropy that Google churn out all the time.

Guys, stop believing/watching/reading the Google/Matt Cutts propaganda machine! Just keep cranking out more YT videos & test, test, test & track EVERYTHING, in step-by-step detail. I am running 4 different YT tests this week using different backlink tactics, different services, etc. So far, 1 has proven to be a real winner. The others... meh, not so much. Analyze what you did that worked and then repeat that same process like crazy until it stops working. Do this and Google will never catch up to you. Sure, nothing new. But... how many test are you running right now? Exactly.

The G political/propaganda machine is merely sensationalizing something which is already there so they look good politically and maybe sway some reluctant advertising money into their coffers. And just maybe they will discourage newbies who are buying views.
They are already doing all they can do to come after us - nothing will likely change aside from a short-lived scrutiny of views. Then life will go back to normal.

Great advice. Quick question: what do you use for tracking? I mean, I suppose you're not talking about GA. Really curious about this.
As for tracking, I use a few different services -- there are a handful of YT tracking services out there. They are all pretty much the same. Most let you track one vid for free if you want to test it out before paying $10/mo or whatever. I also do manual tracking. Just type my primary keyphrase into YT and see where I'm sitting. This takes a few minutes per day, not a big deal. Just be sure to log out of Google/Gmail/YT before you check your rankings. I only track each vid closely for the first 2 weeks. If I get the momentum and rankings I want, I move on. Rinse repeat. If the video is not getting traction, I may throw some more links or views at it (and then track what happens as a result), but you gotta know when to stop wasting more time/money with it. Some videos just don't rank as well as others. Kind of like planting a garden. Some tomatoes will do well... others not so much. Rather than try and save a dead/dying plant... focus on what's working/living and move forward. Go and plant more "seeds". That's my take. Hope it helps a bit.
