Currently, Shorts do generate actual revenue from viewer ads. However, for smaller channels, Shorts mainly help maintain and grow the channel, while most of the revenue still comes from long-form videos.

How do you make your content and what type of content? I used to say ai slop shorts are bad, but they get views. The difference is not from me. The key is your process imagination for how you make your videos. Refine that in such a way and you can go into many different niches, and eventually sooner than later pick one good one and muscle down. Master the software that is required for the type of videoes youw ant to make. I make animation videos, so i'm pretty good with adobe animate, and am building up my assets in that. My niche that I found, becuase I love it, is wojaks! lol

You really need to master one format and stick to it. A skilled, dedicated Shorts creator can earn more than an inexperienced long-form creator, and the opposite is also true.
Personally, I experiment with Shorts from time to time on a few channels, but the results don’t come close to what I get from long-form content.
Long-form videos generate better earnings for me and keep bringing in revenue over the long term. I’d rather spend two or three hours creating a solid long-form video that can drive traffic for years than spend 30 minutes on a Short that might go viral and then die after a few days.
Even though Shorts seem easier to produce, that’s not always the case, especially if you’re doing high-effort content like Zach D. Films–style videos.
TL;DR: Shorts and long-form can both be profitable, but long-form wins for me long-term.

When you start going viral, you can make almost unlimited money with shorts through sponsorships.

Yes, shorts are still worth starting today. Your earnings depends on your niche. Finance is a good niche for earnings.

Yes, you should start YouTube Shorts today, especially if you already have experience creating content. Shorts quickly increase views and subscribers, and are great for capturing new audiences. Earnings from Shorts are real, but usually not very high and the revenue per view is low.

Sponsorships do form significant part of revenue. But you should not depend only on YouTube for income.

Revenue also comes from adsense. But you need views in millions to make good money.

Shorts can still drive attention, but revenue from Shorts alone is limited unless you have massive, consistent views. Most creators I see scale income with sponsorships, long-form videos, and diversified monetization, not just Shorts payouts.

Long form content gives higher earning with ads. But so far as sponsorships are concerned, it can come on shorts as well. You just need a good number of followers for this.

You can earn big money on shorts, and if there is an opportunity to scale up, it is definitely worth it. You just need to run not 1 or 2 accounts, but 4-5 in parallel to get a decent result in terms of money.

For new creators, I'd say do both short & long form. at least 1 long form a week and 4+ shorts a week.
You can also turn short-form content into long-form with creativity and depth

correct me if i am wrong, but i thought i had seen that you need extreme viewership in order to start getting paid ?
not an expert on the matter though but i had seen a short video that mentioned that earns 0 income from shorts because it didnt hit like a 3 mil mark over a certain time span
