Youtube shorts recommend my content to the wrong audience

I have a shorts channel that is about 1 month old and I produce content in English. While I initially recommended my YouTube videos to countries such as America and England, now I am getting views from my own country and this reduces the interaction considerably. What do I need to do to make YouTube recommend my videos to America again?

What country are your videos showing in now?

And is that where you are physically located?

Use keywords and hastags relating to America in your titles and descriptions.

(a) There is a period when YouTube shadowbans your channel (drop in views), and when that happens you get zero impressions or very less impressions, around like 80% to 90% drop in views. During this phase the algorithm shows your videos to the wrong audience and that in turn reduces your CTR and Retention, but when you ask YT support, they tell you that your stats are low and hence you are not getting pushed.
But the reality is, this is a hidden system to control the amount of traffic coming to your channel, and this is what the algorithm does during the "drop in views/algorithm cycles" phase.
It is intentional.

(b) But if your views range are still around the same, and yet you have a different audience, then there is nothing much you can do about it. It is the algorithm that controls where your traffic comes from.

The above 2 scenarios, i described, are generally what happens on YouTube when your videos are shown to the wrong audience.

It is obvious that it will be shown to people from your own country only. You can use proxy while creating channel if you want to target some other country.

To target american audience specifically, you need to work on hashtag strategy use relatable keywords in your description and tags.Moreover run paid ads to target american audience specifally and share your channel in relevant audience such as facebook groups etc.
