Hi, I use Canva to edit my Youtube shorts (1 short=3 to 4 video scenes with animated text)

How can I choose the right scene as a short thumbnail?

Thanks

read somewhere that the thumbnail "scene" should be on the middle of the video, But I believe yt shorts is getting better in recognizing which scene is the most "click baity" if you will.

I have seen some of my videos showing different thumbs at different times, sort of like if the algo was optimising the video for best click.

Think to yourself "would I click this If I saw it?"
This way it'll be easier to find a scene.

Choosing the right scene for your YouTube Shorts thumbnail is essential as it can help to attract viewers and encourage them to click on your video. Here are some tips for selecting the right scene for your YouTube Shorts thumbnail:

  1. Choose a scene that is visually appealing: Look for a scene that is visually attractive and engaging, and that clearly conveys the content of your video. Consider using bold colors, striking images, or interesting patterns to catch the viewer's attention.
  2. Use a scene with high-quality resolution: Make sure the scene you select has high-quality resolution and is clear and sharp. Avoid blurry or pixelated images that may appear unprofessional.
  3. Use a scene that accurately represents your video: Select a scene that accurately represents the content of your video. Avoid using clickbait thumbnails that misrepresent your video content, as this can lead to viewer disappointment and may harm your channel's reputation.
  4. Include text or graphics: Consider including text or graphics in your thumbnail to make it more engaging and informative. Use large, bold text that is easy to read, and consider adding arrows, icons, or other graphics to highlight important information.
  5. Test different thumbnails: Finally, consider testing different thumbnails to see which ones perform best. Use YouTube Analytics to track viewer engagement and click-through rates, and experiment with different scenes and styles to see what works best for your channel.
By following these tips, you can choose a scene for your YouTube Shorts thumbnail that is visually appealing, accurately represents your video, and helps to attract viewers to your content.
