Choose an appropriate category for your video or the closest one if it doesn't fit neatly into pre-populated categories. One thing a lot of people miss is having the file name of their video be the targeted keyword or keyword phrase. So if your video is about how to fix a car and your target keyword phrase is car repair tips, an appropriate file name might be CarRepairTips.mov or Car_Repair_Tips.mov. Also, include your targeted keywords as well as other relevant keywords as tags for the video.

One tactic that may take some more time is generating backlinks to the video or having it embedded on other sites. If you own or manage web properties where the video would be relevant (such as a personal blog or Facebook page), embed the video on those sites immediately. Uploading your video file to other video sharing websites such as Vimeo, Daily Motion, or Veoh and using your target keywords in tags, descriptions and titles on those sites will help increase its visibility.

The best of these tips is to get yourt video hosted on other sites linking back to the Youtube URL (this is called syndication - it's completely acceptable)
Getting likes,subs,thumbs and comments all help as well. Also establishing a channel with a TON of unique content over time. And subtle backlinking of your channel. I've know Youtube channel pages get a URL of 6 inside a year - and keep it. That's some powerful Mojo!
