So you're looking to Rank Page #1 on YouTube results with your video?
Here are the main things YouTube looks at in order of importance (top to bottom)
Title -
Including your keywords will help you rank significantly higher than anything else
this is kind of obvious you're not going to rank high for a golfing video if your title is about call of duty xD
Total views -
Pretty self explanatory.. more views = high ranking (generally)
Recent views -
If the video got 1 million views a year ago and only gains a few views a day
it will rank worse than a video that got a million views a year ago but is still gaining 10,000 views a day
Description -
Make sure to include all your keywords in the top 3 lines of the description as this is where YouTube
will look after title
Tags -
Make sure to contain all your tags and any that you believe are relevant. BUT be careful do NOT spam your tags
with unrelated keywords youtube will pick up on this and then dismiss ALL of your tags worsening your videos SEO.
Number of video embeds on external websites -
Kind of obvious the more external sites embedding your video
the higher your video will rank.
Number of links to the video from external websites -
Same again here really apart from its just a link not an embed.
Age -
older is better, unless it is a trending topic
Total channel views where the video was uploaded -
Having a channel with other successful videos will show YouTube you have consistent
good content the higher the better again.
Note: Youtube Recently changed its ranking algorithms so that the longer the viewers watch your video (audience retention)
the better the video will rank.
Example - a video with 1 million views (10% audience retention) will not necessarily rank higher than a video with 500,000 views but with 80% audience retention.
