if the account is related to your niche and with real subs and views, it might be good to buy. if not i would buy google ads instead

It depends on a lot of factors other than account age. How difficult your keywords are, what is the traffic on them, your video quality. But as I have experienced, yes, old accounts do work if other aspects are also taken care of.
Also, if possible, search for your keyword volume on google and if it's good, you may even try building some links to your videos to rank it on big G.
