YouTube Rank Falling

So I uploaded a video yesterday and ranked it number 4 on YouTube in a 1.3m keyword. I've gotten 9k views off of it but now I'm ranked number 5. I know this isnt a big deal but I'd like to prevent it from falling even further down. What are some things I can do to get it back to number 4 or even higher? Please note that this is in YOUTUBE search rankings NOT GOOGLE so backlinks won't do anything. Also, how does one get into the suggested videos section on the right hand side of the video? Thanks

Just do whatever you did to rank it #4.

subs like and comments are also part of this game! make sure to have adequate one.

It's natural for a new video to dance for the first 2-3 months or so. I have videos in competitive niches that have been holding strong #1 on youtube for 2 years now. But it took a few months for them to stabilize.

What helps the most, first and foremost is having a great video. A shitty video, no matter how much you manipulate metrics ... it'll always be like you're trying to climb a greasy flag pole. You boost it, give it good metrics, it hits #1, bad organic metrics pull it back down. So a high quality video is most important.

After that, it's solid on page SEO.

THEN a consistent feed of retention views, likes, good comments, ratings and subs.

Just remember, in competitive niches, low quality videos won't maintain unless you're continually sending more and more views/likes/comments. High quality videos can take maintain #1 organically for a LOOONG TIME without any additional boosting.

So continue whatever you're doing and just wait 2-3 months. After that point, if the video keeps slipping down then the video content is the main problem and you'd be better off reranking a better video instead.

fetch your competitors tags and copy paste them into yours

Thank you so much for such a detailed response! So helpful! It is actually good quality since I am a legit YouTuber but would like to speed up the growth of my channel. You are completely right about the whole dancing thing, for example one of my other videos was at page 2 of a 5m keyword and over a few days got bumped all the way down to page 12, but after a week or so it was back up even higher on page 2 and has stayed there ever since. So hopefully this one will bounce up again. I also realized it might just be my IP giving biased results since I've used multiple web proxies and on all of them the ranking actually hasn't dropped so who knows aha.

Aha thank you but the funny thing is all of my original tags ARE from my competitor!

In the last 3-4 weeks youtube vids have been disappearing and re-apperaing during updates, I hate to say it, but since they ditched author rank,, i think youtube vids are next since they command such a hight ctr on search results. The g is all in on mobile.

Besides ranking at Youtube, try to rank a video at Google also. So you can get double benefits fro both Youtube and Google.

Yep there was definitely some update, which devalued YT vids. Pretty much all vids in the niches I am tracking dropped 3 - 8 positions in G serps. Nobody really mentioned it here.

ranking on google is VERY important rather than ranking on youtube...but if you rank on google then my guess is you should be ranking on youtube too...

Keep giving likes and comments for your video and even do some shares.

Repeat your technique and keep pushing out new videos. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.

question : you used likes only, comments only, views only, shares only or a combo ? secondly, besides these did you use anything else to rank it, you dont need to tell us your method, just tell us if you used something else, so we can tell you what we all do and does it differ.

answer : this is actually fairly simple as the gentleman above said research your competition in terms of keyword use i the video, now the thing is, this is what i follow and seems to work everytime, i dont use keywords for the competition on youtube first page on my direct main keyword, rather i search of similar keywords then i use the tags of ranked videos which are different from the main keyword video tags, by doing this 1. you are doing something different than the rest of them 2. once you show up in other people's videos, the moment you get traffic, your rankings start to increase on the main keyword.
