YouTube or TGN Partnership?

I am currently a YouTube Partner, but have recently been asked by TGN to become a partner. I get about 150K views a month, currently have 30K subscribers and 2 million video views total. My channel is a year and half old and I make around $500 a month with YouTube. If I switch to TGN with a $2.5 CPM would it be a smart move? I'm not quite sure how all this whole things works. I'm pretty confused. ANy help would be appreciated. Also, If I switch to TGN, but decide that I was better off as a YouTube partner...could I go back to being a YouTube partner instead?

Blackheart, you would probably be better off staying for the time being while putting out feelers to some of the larger networks. You can also talk to your handler at TGN. Tell them what you are currently making and see if they have a counter offer.
 
Hey bro. I get 450.000 views a month, total 2m+ and I decided not to partner.
A 2.5 CPM is not high in my eyes.
If you're making nice money now I wouldn't risk to try and make more if you could go and earn a lot less. (In my opinion)
From what I've heard you can go back to Youtube Adsense. Afterwards.
 
Stay solo man......there are so many instances that I've seen TGN/Machinima and other networks screw YouTubers over. In most cases when you sign their contract they now own complete rights of your channel....if you want to continue to do YouTube without them you would have to start a new channel + build your following once again. Let me do some searching I will find you a few of the instances I am talking about.

I talked to him and he told me that he would not know how much I would be able to make until the reports come in which irritated me because I've read others who were actually given a CPM. I even told him that with a 2.5 CPM I would be making more with YouTube. Machinima just contacted me about partnering with them as well, but I heard they have a CAP, but I've also heard they don't. My gutt is telling me to stay solo. This is tough!

I didn't think 2.5 was a high CPM as well. I think I'll stay solo. I was just contacted by Machinima as well to become a partner, but from what I've heard...they have a CAP.

WHAT!? That's exactly what I don't want. I was just accepted to be part of Machinima and they sent me over a contract. I was stoked, but there is no way I would want to give up my channel rights and start over if I'm not making more than what I am right now. I know they have a lot of subs, but not sure how many of those subs would follow and actually watch my videos.
 
Go solo +1 with that amount you should be able to bank great on yer own and better than some of the horror stories heard on the "proper" partnerships.

That alone is enough to scare me. I don't want to screw myself over by switching. I'll be sticking with what I got after all.
 
I was also afraid to lose my money. Maker Studios want me really bad for a ''70/30'' split.
The thing is. They can give me way better paying advertisement, that's soooo nice.
But I just won't take the risk man to lose any money. :D

If you are currently making $500 from 150k views than you are making $3.33 CPM. No way, don't go with any Network that is putting a cap on your earnings like $2.50 CPM. I would only join a Network that takes a %, like 10% to them 90% to me. No CPM cap. Don't expect to get any marketing or SEO benefit from a Network. Remember, many of these Networks have thousands of channels signed to them with hundreds of these channels each earning millions of views per month. You are not even going to be a blip on their radar and they will pay no attention to you unless you are getting millions of views per month. I recommend staying on your own for now.
 
Like I said before definetely stay solo if you have gained that much traffic already on your own. It's obvious you have a very entertaining channel and can only grow from here. You don't want a larger network dig into your profits and have a say so on what does/doesn't go on your channel. You just want to be yourself right?

Honestly, if I were in your position and I could afford to...I would spend a little bit of my profits to market myself a bit more. Also, if you have some type of Merch you could setup on your YouTube store...could also be a great way to monetize such traffic.
 
The main advantage in partnering with some external company and not Youtube is that you aren't going to put your Adsense account on the line.

Of course, if you ain't doing anything shady and your account is already estabilished (so no risk of clickbombing), you won't benefit from this.

If you really want a network partnership I would hold off for a better deal of 80/20 or 90/10. Grow your channel more and you should receive a better offer than 70/30 from a network like Fullscreen or Maker Studios.
 
If you are able to monetize your videos without a network and are having success with it I would most definitely stay by myself. When your channel starts building age and authority your ad pool will start getting bids from bigger advertisers with bigger budgets. This results in an immense profit increase no network can provide. They may have higher paying ads intiially, but they will soon be taken away from your channel until it contains the qualities mentioned above.
