YouTube Local SEO

I have a question for you guys, and I have been searching and not found a definitive answer yet.

I am good at ranking youtube videos and have thought it might be lucrative to create videos for local business and rank them. My question is, can I get a youtube video to show up for local search?

For example, someone is looking for dog training, so they go to google and type in dog training. In return they get local results for dog trainers in the area. I think if someone got a video in the SERPS for a dog trainer in that area it would be very beneficial to that trainer from an advertising standpoint. Just not 100% sure if youtube videos will generate any rankings for local search.

I know I could target "dog training + location" and rank for that, but I would like to rank for higher searched terms not including the location kw.

Short answer, yes.

I create short videos for clients to include on-page for a given key word. I treat them just like images, and optimize them accordingly. The youtube content boosts the page, and the page boosts the youtube content. I have several local keywords for clients that have both the page, and the youtube page, ranked highly.

The youtube content will rank for just "keyword" when someone searches for "keyword" and gets local results, it just won't be as easy to do as with "keyword + geomodifier". You could backlink the youtube page I suppose but I've never experimented with it.
