Youtube Feed Advertising

I started to realize the main way I have been introduced to new videos and commercials is through my Youtube feed. For example, it will say John Doe has +1 this video or shared this video. I have a feeling that this isn't entirely organic because the top video in the feed is usually unrelated to anything else in my feed. Is there a way to do this type of advertising? I don't see an option for it in Youtube ads or adwords

The obvious way to advertise through feeds is get heaps of subscribers, and upload regularly.
