If you're using chrome browser, then just type in google "chrome youtube downloader", there's extension and works good.

I recommend Internet Download Manager. Using this you can download videos from any site.

I was going to download jdownloader a while back, then I read somewhere that the software has a habit of installing other programes on people's computer without their knowledge. How did you get round that?
Hey, I'm using something that sounds similar, only it's not an addon, it's the browser itself. Do you know of Torch browser?
It is integrated with features that allow you to download videos and music very quickly. I actually like it because of it's built-in torrent client.

I use the plugin on google chrome 
you can try vidfetch . its simple to use. only make sure you have java installed on your client machine and you do not close the page until you have finished downloading. it not only allows you download but also streams the video in a player. it supports downloading from several popular sites including YouTube.
