YouTube Disables Tags to the Public

Just saw this as well. Wonder why they implemented the change but it's pretty clear.

"Decrease the amount of individuals abusing the algorithm"
 
Doesn't make sense as they are still used in the algo. Strange behaviour from YT.
 
flor flor, think about it a little bit.... this is good for us, users and also YT :)
 
They can still be fetched through source code and API, people mentioned. So the developers either missed those ones or are bit dumb. People who are smart enough to use tags to their benefit are able to google and get the tags through other means.
 
Awesome, I seriously don't know how some of you guys that do utube hang in there...
 
It doesn't really seem like it'll affect anything from an SEO perspective? Just public visibility...?

If anything, it makes expanding the description of something less cluttered :)
 
for me is better now :P u cant get our tags :P so easy
