I used to that before easily and it was working good too for my clients..but now its seems to be hard as YT is getting hold of spammers...You can do that now also but acc. to me its hectic and less converting now!! 
You have to bypass spam filters. It's quite easy, I will give you some general tips:
-spin your comments (something like article spinning {word|word1|word2}
-delay beetwen comments
-fresh ip every 50-75 comments.

because its only half the game to know how to drive traffic and promote something. . the other half is understanding your traffic demographic and knowing what to promote.
Hey guys I was wondering, when you post the comments do you direct them to your landing page? Or do you use something like tiny(space because bh asterisks out this url)url.com? I was just wondering because I was thinking would youtube blacklist a URL if they saw it was suddenly being promoted in spam content?

yt sometimes does ban your domain but only if the domain is a non dictionary word etc: groosdosfpb.com but if its something like two dictionary words awesomevideo.com then they will not ban it.
YT has banned one of my domains but only because it was a non dictionary words.. now I use mostly words in domains that are in the dictionary and haven't had one of them banned even if I promote them as hell..

What do you mean by saying YT bans domains? Do you put your URL without the SPACE in them? As far as I understand, the traffic is going to be direct, they dont exactly click through? do they? I understand that the users copy the URL on the comment and place them in the browser with some modifications.

yt bans site names that are actually domains. If you put that word in your comment your comment will be marked as spam and your acc terminated.
