I have codes autowriting bots before. I used C+, Selenium. From my experience these languages provide more stable outcomes. As for chrome extensions JavaScript would be sufficient.
All you need to know is JavaScript, you should already know html and xml. And you may need some JSON. With the documentation you should be good it's pretty straightforward.
