My friend has a channel with 1 million subscribers. He now wants to change thr channel name but he is fearing that subscribers will get confused with new name. How to proceed with this further?

He should choose a new name that is similar to his current name and also announce the channel name in advance and the reason for the change.

no there is no confusion. don't worry. biggest example is "chilledcow" the lofi music channel with millions of subs. now the name of the channel is "lofi girl". there will be no problem as long as you inform the audience.
lofi girl still continued to have the same level of traffic despite the change.

The old name is very childish. Having a similar new name is not an option.
