Based on my experience, I recommend allowing at least six months to a year if you're just beginning your youtube's journey and aiming to build genuine, organic views on your channel. If you're not satisfied with your results after six months, it might be worth considering whether you have chosen the right niche (of course it's better to pick a good niche from the beginning rather than change it after 6 months.) or if your content creation strategy may need some adjustments.

There is no fixed time for this. Some channels can explode in a month also. But for majority , it is a consistent effort for years.

it is difficult now. it was probably easy decades ago, now you need to post relevant shit.

Depends on what you're trying to do. Gameplay videos will take more time, you will have to post daily videos for at least 4 months to stay up in the competition. If its more engaging and fun content like Game essays then you will stand-out quite easily.
So it basically depends on which niche you're planning to pick and how unique your channel is from others. You will reach success if you plan everything properly.
Remember, pick your niches based on the RPM as well. 1000 views on a gaming channel will get you only $2. But same 1000 views on Educational content will get you $10-$12. Hope it helps.
