YouTube category

What catagory when I make a video would a gambling casino or sport betting video be in? Gaming category, entertaining entertainment or something else.

I'd have a look at what categories the videos of the competition are under.

There are not to many I think maybe 10 let me know, thanks

If your competition is spread out over many categories, maybe it indicates there's not only 1 appropriate category.

Have a look at which of those are more similar to yours and which are having the best results.

Not every question has a right or wrong answer. Without knowing your specific content it's even harder to say.

If you can't decide, just go with your gut, or flip a coin. It's probably not the most important factor anyway. Google rarely makes it that easy.

I decided to try something out. Lol you’re correct Google would never make this easy, or else we would all spam one catagory

Does category matter? i do live streams and i choose whatever category i like and still rank 1st or 2nd(small channel). i don't know if it applies to uploads.

I don't know, but I doubt it matters much if at all.

I would assume YT works something like this:
• If 80% of people who watch 5 hours of channel X also watch 5 hours of channel Y, then we will suggest channel Y videos to other viewers of channel X.
• If content, title, tags match a search query, sort by a mix of viewing hours for each video/channel (over the last several days, then over the last month) and how much interactivity a channel/video has had (comments, like, dislikes). I'd mash up the stats a bit. Remember they can turn voice to text, so that'll likely influence things.

If I was to write it, id do it something like that. I assume YT does something along the same general premises. Viewers would be the glue that really relate videos and channels to a topic.

This would also make paid viewers pointless. They have no pattern indicating what style of videos they watch. You'd get lots of views, but with no relationship value. Your channel relationship would probably just be to others paying for such services, which in the end could cause you all sorts of issues, from being uncategorised, or being categorised as a rule breaker and penalized for it.

They might also try relationships by seeing who is mentioned in comments, I assume they have some nice AI code that can do that.

Direct influence, like a category option box isn't likely to do much at all the way google likes to work.
