I did a few video blogs on Youtube within the last 3 years or so. What i noticed is that even though some videos were very crap they would still get a few views every day. During these few years even my shittest video managed to accumulate thousands of views.
Instead of trying to make videos popular one at a time i went for a quantity approach. I went on clickbank and found an interesting product to promote. Iv made 100 videos between 4 and 10 seconds long for quick uploads. Each one of them would contain a different longtail keyphrase in the title + description. Eg If i was promoting iphone downloads i would generate a list of long tail keyphrases and name each video appropriately. Eg Download Britney ringtones for iphone and Get tennis game for your iphone and so on. Each video is very simple. It contains an arrow pointing towards my referral link in description =====)> followed by a quick image of an iphone for a thumbnail, followed by another arrow. When i was done with the product i would find another one, create a new Youtube account and make another 100 videos and so on...
After testing this method for two weeks it turned out i was right about the views. Each video would generate me around 1-3 clicks/day. So if i upload 1000 video per day (working 10 hours a day) i would get:
Day 1: 2000 referral clicks
Day 2: 4000 referral clicks
Day 3: 6000 referral clicks
and so on.
The best thing is that the flow of clicks is very stable and is always there. My last upload was a week ago or so yet i still get around the same amount of clicks every day.
The problem is... And this is where brainstorming comes in. The conversion rate is very very bad. People search for the video, they find it, click on referral link and don't buy. I have tested all sorts of products. Everything from psp games to running cars on water without results. How would i increase the conversion rate? If the fuckers would convert better we could be on a long term stream of traffic here for a few days of hard work. Any ideas?
