    Hey,

I'm looking into starting a YT channel. Something in the review niche.

I see videos in similar niches with very high views in a relatively short time - my questions are:-
am I to take it that the channel owners will make x dollars for every 1000 views - is it that straightforward?
How can channels get these mega view counts (they're not viral videos)
Is there a decent course or guide thats worth following?

    Thanks for your time.

Their earnings will vary, they might use Adsense or other ways of making money off those videos. But almost certainly they're making money somehow.

There is a lot of information online about ways to get views to your videos.
Share on social media and forums (don't spam) and relevant tags and keywords etc.

If you do some research on Google you'll find a few useful tips. However the YT algorithm is constantly changing so some tips will no longer be relevant. Best to test things out and see what works for you.

Nobody with a working method of getting thousands or millions of views is going to share it. Would you?

Research lots, make a plan and test it to see if it works, if it does then great. If it doesn't then keep trying new things until you find something that works.

    Thanks.
In a roundabout way I'm asking is the $1 per 1000 views rule of thumb accurate in pretty much all cases?
Or can it very propbably be the case that a video could have 20,000,000 but make no revenue?

It varies. I've head some make up to between $4-9 per 1k, but I don't know for sure.

Also you said you wanted to start a new channel? Now YouTube have a new policy, no ads will be displayed on your content unless you have a total of 10,000 views, 1k subscribers and 4k hours watch time on your channel. So you won't make money from Adsense unless you meet those requirements.

Focus more on making good content and getting subscriber rather than how much is paid per 1k views.

    Thanks, that's good info.
I'm reading more into it and wondering how lucrative it will be as I'm starting to see things about promotion networks and all that.

Also remember that only about half of those views are monetized not all of them. Cater to people who dont use adblockers and dont rely just on youtube for making money. Get them to a website or so after they view your videos to make more off them.
