And you can generally use trashier links to do this to be honest

As long as the views are legit, YT doesn't give a hoot where the views came from.
In the case of building backlinks to a YouTube video, I've found that hitting it with a mix of quality and spammy links can really help to get it onto the serps on Google. It doesn't have a huge impact on the YT search pages initially.

Backlinks are simply links that link one site to another. The more of these you have, the more exposure you are gonna get. It is also one of the parameters that a lot of algorithms use to rank sites, videos, and images. If you do a quick search, you'll see there are tons of ways you can go about getting backlinks to your videos. However, buying them is probably the easiest and fastest.
